I wonder if part of the issue is that self-proclaimed fans are writing or posting about why they strongly dislike the album. People who were previously not fans are pointing at this as "even her fans are abandoning her." They get to gloat about how they've been right all along.

This sounds a lot like how the Rep era was presented in Miss Americana. Except this time, there isn't clearly any scandal that occurred or supposedly occurred. The main issue currently is just that she's too popular and too successful.

I am pleased that we are following CALIFORNIA department of public health vaccination guidelines. Note: COVID vaccine will be given to 'all those who choose protection'.

As an ICU physician, I advise you to CHOOSE PROTECTION. I've seen too many bad cases.

JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom are doing something new and important: They understand Stephen Miller's theory of fascist power politics, and they've developed a theory on how to combat it. More Dems need to reckon with Miller's understanding of the moment.

There is so much negative on social media.

But there was so much positive that changed my career and my life for the better.

I can't speak to the counterfactual - what would have happened in my life if I had not been chronically online. But a lot to be grateful for.

I met friends in rheumatology from around the world. Too many to name and tag in this thread.

I found my current academic position.

I joined a research group that was able to generate the early evidence base for how COVID-19 affects people with rheumatic disease.

Twitter revolutionised my career.

I learnt a huge amount about causal inference through #EpiTwitter.

And I met many amazing people who I've since had the joy of working with (Eg @epiellie.bsky.social, @epidbydesign.bsky.social, @robertwplatt.bsky.social, @jlrohmann.bsky.social, etc etc)

Twitter gave me a lot of 'unconventional' power in my career. Far more than traditional structures would allow for a misfitting figure such as myself.

Without it, I'm back on the fringes. Left out of events & left off projects.

Knowing the right people, & having them like you, is again critical.
