Not to put too fine a point on it, yes. That style of reference & label is fairly distinctive.

Archival origami is a difficult discipline & a mostly under-appreciated skill. Well done!

I had not thought of adding lemon to soup. I have rather a lot of leeks to use up (needed a leek for something, stocked up in advance, forgot & bought another pack…) so might give this a go. Do you have a recipe, or is it just jazzed up leek & potato?

Thank you. I shall check mine once I have defrosted myself after walking back from church.

Amazing. Dark, rich, chewy… Definitely one for a special occasion, and not just on price. Would have been good with Christmas cake, but it didn’t last that long!

We are home after a few days with my parents Up North, and sharing a fine bottle of Dark Island Reserve (picked up from source while we were in Orkney in the summer) to mark the near-end of the holidays. #ConfinedCocktails

My optician thinks my prescription is too uneven for varifocals to work for me, so I have to have separate reading & distance glasses. On strings round my neck like a stereotypical librarian 😂 It’s a bit faffy, but mostly works - and might actually work out cheaper.

Seconded. But get one with a strap to hold it firmly in place. And/ or a cordless one so you aren’t tethered to a power socket while using it.

He would surely be glad that you are enjoying it for him, in whatever form. Which one is it?

Hang in there. Virtual hug if it helps at all.

I’m actually grateful to M&S for doing some of the hard work for me. I’m ok with the baking that can & should be done ahead (my Yorkshire foremothers would disown me if I bought cake & pud 😀) but happy not to have to cook turkey from scratch.

So her mother (in 1919 & presumably widowed) was allowed to use her own name - but she was shackled to her late husband’s identity as late as 1959. The USA was clearly ahead of the UK in that respect, at least.

Relieved to note that none of these are my family 😀

I’m confused about what day it is already, not having had a remotely ‘normal’ weekend. Going into the office tomorrow (I normally work from home on Mondays) will mess me up even further 😀

Isaiah 11. Very nice. Our carol service is also tomorrow. I’m doing #7 (shepherds).

Yes - except that SiL then said she wanted Margaritas… So had to acquire some tequila, that not being in my normal repertoire. I’m trying to reduce the booze cupboard, not expand it!!!

Can’t help re Snowballs - I bought a full bottle of Advocaat this year on the assumption that we’d drink Snowballs in memory of MiL (it was her favoured Christmas tipple), since my sister in law is here for Christmas.

Starting early with the last of the elderberry port (brought back from Orkney in the summer & is excellent) as a restorative after a busy day of Christmas prep, plus lunch out with a friend. #ConfinedCocktails

I thought I’d done my pre-Christmas restock, but my sister in law just put in a request for Margaritas. Tequila isn’t something I normally have in stock, so on the list it goes…

Dare I admit that we did ours last weekend? It does help that I only see my husband at the weekends, so they have to be done then.

Disproportionately tired, given that all we’ve done today is get (not put up) the Christmas tree, plus progress towards bathroom revamp & a bit of shopping. I could really do with getting some tidying done before I fall asleep over the G&T Himself kindly brought me. #ConfinedCocktails

The dissertation can wait another night. Have another glass in his memory and look after yourself.
