I hear that stands up very well before a disciplinary panel.

I want to be wrong, trail of tears if I’m right will be unbearable—for all. But won’t be Trump to save day nor Arab tyrants: if decency prevails, will be righteous Jews saying enough who rescue Pal cousins, cld even light path back to better days & restore shared humanity—a modern biblical miracle.🙏🏾

Of course Netanyahu has zero intention of honoring any term of any agreement beyond securing release of last hostages. Then he’ll continue the genocide, or “finish the job,” to use his & Trump’s gangster language. The world will do nothing, once again. The Kahanists will “achieve” forever war.
ricfouad.bsky.social
Exactly. Key number is steady MAGA base approval rating: abt 40% lap up “arresting illegals,” “taking out drug dealers,” “making cities safe,” other Charles Bronson BS. ICE recruitment portrays thugs as “heroic.” Trump is alienating 1/2 of country, inciting 1/2, hurtling us toward armed conflict.

Eichmann "banality of evil" references are too often off base & don't convey what Arendt meant. But this is textbook example: *thoughtless* apparatchiks "Just doing my job!" help kill millions & engage in willful blindness, for crude self-advancement. Non-resistance by others is tacitly complicit.

Pure evil.

"A study published in The Lancet journal in June said the U.S. funding cuts could result in more than 14 million deaths, including more than 4.5 million children under age 5, by 2030."

Who cld have predicted that when we all figured Americans wld be falling over each other to get those cushy jobs picking cabbages & strawberries all day long at subsistence or lower wages?🤔

Deplorable. This man is so embarrassing.

“Women have an evolutionary advantage when it comes to living longer.” It’s called the “We don’t do reckless, dumbass things factor,” a well understood principle dating to time immemorial.

If one believes Trump is deranged, the question is academic: he’ll continue on path to provoking violence, declare insurrection, turn military on citizens, & incite civil war, all to retain power—he makes Netanyahu blush. But only a deranged person wld do this—we’ll soon know, but J6 augurs darkly.

(FWIW, Fordham Law used to have a course on parallels between the two conflicts, taught by Doug Cooper, who helped found Parents Circle.)

A poignant & thoughtful piece, on parallels between N. Ireland & Israel/Palestine, from @megankstack.bsky.social. Holding in my thoughts today all who’ve lost loved ones in this awful, bloody conflict: it can & must end, just as the Troubles ended. (No paywall.) www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/o...

TLDR selections. Remember: most important word in lawyer’s vocabulary is no, the key to avoiding disbarment, being sued, prison, or “trifecta” of all three, as many Trump lawyers learn too late.

👉🏾"No one in the room now will say no," said the Justice Department official from Trump's first term.
"No one in the room now will say no," said the Justice Department official from Trump's first term.
The lesson Trump drew from his first term, the former official continued, is that the lawyers who talked him out of "bad ideas" were the wrong kind of lawyers. "The president has set it up so that the people who are there are predisposed to be loyalists who will help him do what he wants." All but one of our respondents said they were concerned or very concerned about Department of Justice attorneys failing to tell the truth in court, which judges across the country have complained about. "It upsets me," Judge William Alsup in California said in court in March, because he thought that a Justice Department lawyer was submitting sham documents and withholding a witness in a case about the mass firing of federal employees. "I want you to know that I've been practicing or serving in this court for over 50 years. And I know how we get at the truth, and you're not helping me." The reactions of judges like
Alsup signal how lawyers who used to uphold the standards of the legal profession are compromising them to adapt to the Trump era. "The D.O.J?'s loss of credibility is devastating to the rule of law," said William Yeomans, an attorney in the civil rights division for a quarter century. "The legitimacy of the proceedings will be damaged in a way that will be difficult to repair."

For heaven’s sake: Oregon stands down as ordered by court; Prez orders in CA, & it balks; Secretary of “War” calls in TX: the various state guards are being moved around like domestic military chess pieces, US citizen v US citizen. Now where have we seen a similar plot?🤔

Van Jones mischaracterizes it: he shilled for Gaza genocide from go, demonized Palestinians, compares keffeya to swastika, panders bc it advances his interests. Was pandering again here, repeating Israeli propaganda, went too far. Despicable man—Maher & Friedman too. None will face consequences.

Yeah, I messed up on this one. And I'm sorry. I was trying to raise awareness about foreign
adversaries creating chaos online - which is undermining democracy everywhere. But what I said was easily misunderstood, and the way I said it was flat-out insensitive.
Babies are dying every day in Gaza.
Nobody should dispute that fact or make light of it in any way. To the people living in fear and burying family members every day, of all ages — I apologize.

It’s gratifying to see how many of these jurists & their staffs take their duties seriously, work hard, & issue thoughtful & well-reasoned rulings—these are ppl w life tenure & no bonuses or overtime pay. This is also in contrast to other judges abt whom I’ll bite my tongue…

The very first statute authorizing domestic use of the military during domestic emergencies, enacted in 1792 by a Congress full of the same folks who wrote and ratified the Constitution, expressly provided for judicial review in certain circumstances *before* the President could even send troops.
