Took the ferry from mid town to St George's. Would recommend it to anyone.

A quick visit to look at a few schools with the youngster before we move here early in the new year. Sadly, flew to minimise the time out of school for him and also so he doesn't miss cricket nets on Wednesday night (very important!).

Hey, walked past that hotel just a few minutes ago. Lots of other hotels have there own bikes too, the one I'm at keeps them in an inner courtyard.
My observation, there is a sizeable minority of helmet wearing cyclists, more than in Amsterdam, I think.

I see this all the time in the darker months. Roads policing just doesn't happen any more. Lots running about on bald tyres and ghost plates too.
But hey, there's plenty of those cyclists about and we all know they're the real problem!

Lovely video, Jen.
It would be good to see canopies over so many of our stations. For a wet country we really don't think about those waiting in the cold and the wet.

It seems nearly 2.2 billion has been written off by the DfT when HS2 phase 2 was cancelled. That's 2,200,000,000 pounds with nothing to show for it. Very likely further write downs will need to be made plus some costs that will be conveniently hidden. Source was New Civil Engineer.

One of the ways HS2 got a reputation for being expensive is because we upgrade/build motorways in short piecemeal sections. No ever proposes to price a motorway similar to the M6/M1 in one package.

The only government is history that wants to achieve growth without investing in infrastructure.
Remember just a few weeks ago there were briefings about an annoucement about the "northern arc" or NPR or whatever they want to call it these days and then a quick retreat. Since then nothing.

many countries would set this type of road up as a contraflow bike lane. Much better if you can't get rid of the parking on both sides because of "reasons".

Governments since Cameron's Tories have been waging war against our children and young people. Children's centres closed, youth centres closed, even park benches removed. The places kids can just hang out have been eliminated.

Perhaps because young women are far too sensible to fall for the lies and mis-truths being peddled by the right? (The rampant misogyny doesn't help either)

That's my membership cancelled. If @cyclinguk.bsky.social won't support all women it's not an organisation I can support.

They've been avoiding spending money on rail freight bottlenecks for years. If they were serious there would be an announcement about Ely Junction and east-west rail would have the wires strung up straight away. Oh and HS2 would be given a hurry up rather than we're going to slow the program down.

Well that's as dangerous as fuck. What is a cyclist meant to do? Firstly theyre at risk of being side swiped by a careless bus driver. Then will have the choice between waiting behind tge bus at every stop or risk overtaking on the outside. No no no.

Well the right have spun the view that teenagers are to be feared and snowflakes and up to no good for years. Of course they should work for free. Remember a few years ago when we were told they should all go get internships?

Oh you mean like we do with our minimum viable product approach to public infrastructure.
Why have a good well proportioned station when you can make do with a bus shelter and a help point?
