I heard it suggested the reason Trump got on so well with Mamdani is because he didn't slavishly kiss Trump's ass, made a refreshing change

It's like, these mfers believe they want to create the Culture from the Iain Banks novels, but they don't understand there would be no place for people like them in such a society

The thing is, *if* the singularity was a thing and it solved scarcity, that would mean wealth no longer has meaning, ergo no-one is rich any more. I don't think the billionaires would allow that

Although we might curse their memory for the role they played in getting us to whatever we will have been through by then.

Or indeed any introspection

Twitter at its shittest, too. Twitter has always had its awful side but it once was really entertaining too, to an extent that Bluesky has not yet come close to matching, at least in my experience.

Is this a case of you must master the rules before you can transcend them?

That's why the Greens are "dangerous", because they're talking about actually doing different things, which is unthinkable

What they're doing is non negotiable, as far as they're concerned, so the only thing left is the framing

Labour group that very deliberately created the government we have got now believes it is also the solution

That's an epic photo of you, Alice!

I think the answer to that is: nothing. If we accept this government is as far right as it appears to be; the hallmark of the far right is they don't really like anything, least of all their own supporters.
December 8, 2025 at 11:22 AM
I don't think so, not yet. The liberals I know have now noticed what the government is like, but they are still wondering why the government is like this.

The rest of the press standing resolutely arms folded, refusing to join in

Are they trying to do that though?
