I didn't even notice that

We are. This will go more or less the way Brexit did, probably more so. The anti-ECHR people will get most of the coverage, and the public will never get to hear any serious discussion of what this will mean in practice. They will only find out when it's too late.

I thought I *was* pessimistic but yeah, I didn't foresee this. I thought that Labour's term would be mediocre, doing nothing to reaffirm human rights, then in 2029 both Reform and the Tories would put leaving the ECHR in their manifestos. Maybe they won't have to.

And it's like, no-one is proposing banning cars. If all towns and cities were walkable, and had great public transport for longer journeys, they would be better for drivers too.

Getting the lads their rightful jobs back, that was the point

The conspiracy theory version of 15 minutes cities is that everyone will be confined to within a 15 minute walk of where they live.
richardwild.bsky.social
"Everything you need is within a 15 minute walk of your home" is clearly good but that is not what conspiracy minded Reform voters think it means.

On the one hand, obviously anything is permissible in the interests of keeping the left away from power. But moreover, it's quite clear all these people view politics as no different to a royal court.

Someone opined here yesterday that we should always have said the long form, 'anti-fascist', and I think I agree.

I remember when everyone agreed austerity was essential to protect the government's AAA credit rating, which we subsequently lost anyway

That link takes you to a page which tells you you are a p'tagh with no honour

Might actually make his approval go up a bit

I mean it doesn't really exist, does it? Reform is the Brexit party is Ukip. Whatever is left of Ukip must be something akin to a spider's moulted exoskeleton.
richardwild.bsky.social
Joking aside, I always find it a bit jarring to be reminded Ukip still exists, since they came to be so completely associated with Farage.

I feel so sorry for UKIP. The main parties have raised the bar so high for ultra racism and transphobia that they've literally had to adopt Nazi iconography as their logo just to compete.
New UKIP logo, which is a far-right cross with swords.

And you just know already that idiot liberals will not be able to resist the free speech argument.

Kinda hilarious that you bracketed Tony Blair as a mainstream Republican, but you are not wrong.
richardwild.bsky.social
I was not ready for the "Donald Trump thinks Tony Blair is a bit too much of a scumbag" timeline
richardwild.bsky.social
It is because you are not paid to be wrong.

Cannot recommend enough Nordic Socks for this

People who won't have been affected by the shredding of the social contract...although they might notice later on when they start needing the NHS and it doesn't function any more (only the properly wealthy will be able to afford good private health care).

Me after half an hour reading LinkedIn 😂

Oh I don't think he has any kids, or if he does, he's not allowed to see them.

Man I hate when that happens!
