Yes. And you have much, much higher range before degrading S/N to the point of needing a repeater, 2R, or 3R. If you could properly repeat in the same time and frequency domain in radio in the first place

Side note, I honestly think this kinda content might do bigger numbers on Mas to don. Much higher ratio of nerds to snipe.

Why decades? Up to 10G, optical is basically AM radio.
Because photons (almost) don't interfere with each other, you get away with most everything and can skip literal decades of technological progress.

I'm fully self-taught on optical data transmission, to the point that I specced, QA'ed, and then improved direct imports from Shenzhen factories.
