Riddler Week
@riddlerweek.bsky.social
29th March - 4th April 2025
I am so pleased with the turnout for our inaugural event. We had a huge total of 77 entries, including a mix of styles and creative endeavours, and we can see who our favourite #Riddler is. 1966 and Arkhamverse were popular which just goes to show he has a facet for everyone to enjoy. Thank you all!

Never let canon stand in the way of a good idea. DC certainly doesn't with its relaunches, elsewhere series, and non-tie-in arcs. If you have an original Riddler to introduce, please do. Or a whole alternate universe setup. #riddlerweek is happy to see every iteration of Riddler its possible to have

LEGO games have become a staple and the Batman versions have garnered sequels such as Super-Villains that allow in-game selfies. This could let you explore the prompts in character, as Riddler, with photography or build your own take on it for #riddlerweek with whatever bricks and playsets you have.

To fans who read the early comics, the 1960s TV show would have felt perfectly natural. Modern audiences may take a different view but it is bright and fun regardless. Riddler's riddles are leaps of logic and his schemes are inventive. Why not try a homage to this iconic version for #riddlerweek ?

When putting together this list I couldn't help but notice visual similarities. The redesigned New Adventures Riddler has features of Justice League Action and also the Harley Quinn series. When and where did this unique iconography develop? #riddlerweek is a good time to analyse all these things.

We noted comics before but its too a wide a range for one mention. Some runs show Riddler in depth while others just have a cameo. Artistic styles vary hugely too. We're showcasing Tim Sale here from the Long Halloween arc. The story is just now being continued so look for new lore for #riddlerweek

The Telltale games didn't have the popularity of the Arkham series, maybe because they tried new character dynamics. This Riddler is a legend in his own time though. He has seniority of the rogues and a legacy for them to follow. It had so much more to explore here so why not try for #riddlerweek?

Surely once seen, never forgotten. Jim Carrey's Riddler burst into our lives in 1995 and left an indelible image in people's minds of him for a generation. Irrepressible and smart enough to answer the greatest riddle of all: who is the Bat? Why not unleash your inner exhibitionist for #riddlerweek?

Assault on Arkham was a spin-off from the video game franchise but stands alone. It depicts a highly smug and superior Riddler who was integral to the plot and shows you can deviate from any official canon to create new and interesting storylines for #riddlerweek. Not even DC has consistent canon.

Not every Riddler is high profile and perhaps you want to pick something lesser known. Arkamaniacs is a sitcom style story with a child Bruce Wayne and an apartment full of rogues. Silly hijinks are the order of the day if you choose this for #riddlerweek but who doesn't love that found family vibe?

The Arkham games have shown us a Riddler in development. From Origins, where he's employed by the GCPD and working to improve Gotham, all the way through his growing obsession with Batman and desperate need to prove himself at all costs. Its a fascinating emotional range to explore for #riddlerweek

Lots of people watched Gotham, since it detailed a number of rogues' origin stories, and it made the choice of giving Edward DID to explain his Riddler persona. How you felt about that might depend on whether you were a pre-existing fan or new follower. Use this version how you like for #riddlerweek

One for the newest Riddlers to join the ranks was for younger audiences and he has the distinction of coming with a unique helicopter. Batwheels won't appeal to everyone but its a fun cartoon with some cute designs and could give a different dynamic for #riddlerweek. You could even use Quizz's POV.

Vision isn't the only medium and there are audio adventures worth considering for #riddlerweek. Batman Unburied topped the Spotify charts worldwide and led to a spin-off series focused on the Riddler, Secrets in the Dark. If you value pure voice acting then these podcasts could be your inspiration.

Have you ever wanted to view the Riddler through a different cultural lens? How different might he be if his riddles incorporated other language quirks? What character differences might a foreign upbringing give him? Explore it all during #riddlerweek

Another portrayal of the Riddler which broke the mold was 2004's The Batman cartoon. Along with the darker, goth look he was shown to be an adept fighter. We also got a new backstory which included betrayal and a false deduction by our intellectual rogue. Something to examine maybe for #riddlerweek

I have no doubt we have new fans to the Riddler after Paul Dano's portrayal. It's a shame The Batman: Part II got moved back to Oct '27 but that does give more room to play with the canon we have before possibly learning more. I'm sure we all have plenty of ideas already that might fit #riddlerweek

For a certain generation of fans, the animated series was the moment they became hooked on the Riddler. It reinvented his backstory to give him a gaming history which brought him more up to date. He was also one of few rogues to evade the Batman. Why not indulge with this version for #riddlerweek?

The Riddler has been around a very long time, since 1948 in fact. People have tried various different takes on the character in that time but some aspects always remain the same: his intellectual superiority complex and connection with puzzles. Maybe for #riddlerweek you'll want to go back to basics
