Gotham showed us iconic locations; GCPD's bullpen, the pier, the Narrows, Arkham Asylum, and the Riddle Factory. Cory Michael Smith's Riddler evolved through these places with a unique twist on the character as an alter ego Ed had to reconcile with. Each stage is worthy of exploring for #riddlerweek

PROMPT IDEAS
Day 3: stalking

Online or in person. Someone tracking the Riddler or is he the one on the hunt. Is it for romance, revenge, or renumeration. He's been known to employ blackmail and he's petty enough for a campaign of undermining. But maybe you want to fan-stalk him for #riddlerweek 😉

Why stick to visual media for #riddlerweek when the Riddler has also featured on stories like Secrets in the Dark, his own spin off from Batman Unburied. A classic team-up between villain and vigilant showcasing their unique intellects and deductive abilities. Perhaps time for a Riddler gone good.

The 2004 cartoon gave us a super smart Riddler who led the GCPD on a wild goose chase and knew how to fight the Batman. They gave him a backstory which played upon his hubris and also demonstrated his emotional side. Everyone remembers his goth look but there's a lot more to explore for #riddlerweek

PROMPT IDEAS
Day 2: robot

A lot of Riddlers are noted for their use of technology. Arkham Knight notably had Riddlerbots and Batman Absolute teased us with his AI creation, Al (or Riddle-man). Either may pique your interest for #riddlerweek or maybe you want to explore his use of robotics elsewhere

Where would any of us be without the comics? Not here that's for sure. The Riddler has appeared countless times and we've seen many facets of his character that way. Which angle will you take for #riddlerweek? His trauma? Arrogance? Deadliness? Or perhaps something more fun. There's so much choice.

This #riddlerweek don't be shy about sharing any type of content. Traditional art, digital drawing, writing (short or long), video edit or gifs, essay, musical composition, hand made soft toy, cross stitch, baked as a cookie, building him in a character creator, sculpted, or something else entirely.

LEGO movies, games and playsets all offers options for the Riddler in #riddlerweek. You could build something irl, try out the selfie mode in DC Super Villains, or expand on his role in Batman's world. Its an ideal opportunity to unleash your creativity. Use the prompts however they click for you 😉

PROMPT IDEAS
Day 1: break

Heart break, holiday break, break in, break down - maybe just a simple coffee break - which way does your mind go? This could be fluffy or angsty, slice of life or high drama. We should see a lot of variety with this prompt for #riddlerweek so let your imagination run free

Less well remembered than Frank Gorshin but John Astin also took a turn as the Riddler in the 60s. He gave us a different look at the character, less maniacal and more sneaky. There was no canon explanation for the change which may inspire some ideas for #riddlerweek. Use whichever actor you prefer.

We're happy to include non-SFW content in #riddlerweek. Just follow the usual site etiquette for posting, whether here, tumblr, AO3, or linked from elsewhere, and remember to tag it appropriately. Use a read-more where possible to hide sensitive material. We follow ykinmkato rules here so have fun.

Our most popular version of the Riddler from 2025's event was from Arkhamverse. Ed appears in all the games from Origins to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and is a fan favorite. There's so much scope for #riddlerweek with him since he develops as the series progresses. Which will you choose?

#riddlerweek isn't ship focused though you can include one as long as #theRiddler is the main focus. All options are welcome here and I expect everyone to be respectful of other people's preferences. You don't have to engage if it's not for you but who knows what gems you might discover. Play nice!

If you haven't taken part in one of these events before, there will be a prompt for each day between 28th March to 3rd April. People can use those to inspire any #theRiddler focused creations they want. Tag them #riddlerweek here or on tumblr to share. There'll also be an AO3 collection for writers.

What's this? A second week long event celebrating the Prince of Puzzles, the Riddler! Join us from 28th March - 3rd April sharing entries for a variety of prompts (to be released soon!). I am so pleased with the turnout for our inaugural event. We had a huge total of 77 entries, including a mix of styles and creative endeavours, and we can see who our favourite #Riddler is. 1966 and Arkhamverse were popular which just goes to show he has a facet for everyone to enjoy. Thank you all!

The week is officially over and, while I'll still be checking tags, I want to take a minute to thank everyone who's supported us.

THANK YOU!

It could not have been a success without our wonderful creators, sharers and cheer leaders. I am optimistic of being back next year so watch this space.
