In this week's reading, we read about a personal experience of someone letting strong emotions cloud their brain and choosing to believe conspiracies instead of facts. Can anyone think of situations in our government or political world where this has happened? #uwj201 #318

In the first reading, it was discussed that politicians were manipulating social media to be in their political favor. This happens frequently, especially with how much freedom we have on social media. How much oversight should companies give to posts and the like to combat this issue? #uwj201 #318

This week, we discussed bias. We've also talked about the journalistic function of interpretation and how journalists often get accused of bias when they utilize this function. Do you believe bias and interpretation are mutually inclusive or can interpretation happen without bias? #uwj201 #318

After reading "What is the Good Life and How to Attain It", I've been thinking a lot about how much of the article discusses ancient philosophers and their view of the good life. Do you think their perspectives still apply in the modern world, or are they outdated? #uwj201 #318

This week, we talked about how the amount of information available to us might be increasing, but the knowledge gap is also growing. I think it's because we now choose what information to consume. This makes it a lot easier to reinforce existing opinions instead of new perspectives. #journ201 #318

This week, the objectivity of journalists, was discussed. I then thought about my preferred objectivity levels of journalists. I think it's important for the facts to be objective, but journalists also need to call our attention to injustices sometimes, which would not be objective. #uwj201 #318

In lecture today, the discussion about preferred avatars interested me. I'd personally prefer the little blob with the face, rather than the realistic human body with mannerisms. But I'm curious about what other people think in terms of how they would want their AI helper to look like. #uwj201 #318

In lecture this week, Wagner discussed the four functions of journalism. I wonder with this changing world of how news is portrayed and what viewers look for if news sources will become reliant on one function more than the others in order to attract viewers. #uwj201 #318

In this week's lectures we discussed media ownership and how it affects media content. I wonder if companies continue to merge and own more and more media sites, will mass media become less diverse making our information diets accidentally more homogenous. #journ201 #318

This Wednesday's reading, "What Makes Wisconsin Swing," made an interesting point about "information diets" and how this correlates to partisan polarization. I wonder if the rise of partisan media is keeping us from seeking a diverse information diet. #UWJ201 #318
