No one writes about the bereaved frog spouse and abandoned tadpoles in fairy tales. THEY HAD MADE A LIFE TOGETHER THEY WERE MOVING FORWARD IT WAS WORKING SURE THE PAST WAS A HAZY KALEIDOSCOPE OF FACELESS GOLDEN TRESSES AND MELANCHOLY BUT WHAT WAS IN THE POND WAS SOLID AND GOOD AND THE MUD FELT RIGHT AND WHEN RAIN STIPPLED THE SURFACE OF THE WATER ABOVE THEM LIKE FLEETING CONSTELLATIONS THEY WERE NEAR TO SOMETHING LIKE HAPPINESS THE ONLY THING GOING THROUGH THEIR FROG BRAIN AS PINK WET FLESH AND A GRAVEYARD OF SMOOTH GHOSTLY TOMBSTONES LOOMED NEAR WAS "WAIT WAIT WAIT..." WAIT THE POND, WAIT THE WHISPERING OF DRAGONFLIES WINGS SKIMMING AGROSS THE SURFACE OF THE WORLD JUST ABOVE, WAIT THE GLISTENING OF THEIR BELOVED'S VOCAL SACS AS THEY STRETCHED IN NIGHTLY SONGS, WAIT THE MUD COOL AND BLESSEDLY FORGETTING, WAIT WAIT WAIT... PLEASE... WAIT
