Glad I got to become disabled in a world that already had Alice Wong @sfdirewolf.bsky.social in it. I learned so much from her incredible writing & activism. May her memory be a blessing, & may we all continue her work.

I am gutted to learn of @sfdirewolf.bsky.social (Alice Wong’s) passing. She was always a warm friend, a wonderful spirit, and someone who fostered my own growth. She helped me see that, as a #disabled person with chronic illness, I matter—I am whole. I’ll be posting some of Alice’s work. ❤️ forever

No. This is somewhere to be. This is all you have, but it's still something. Streets and sodium lights. The sky, the world. You're still alive.

Many authors have searched The Atlantic's LibGen database of pirated titles to see if they are listed there. However, I've uncovered that authors of short fiction aren't always discoverable there.

Here's how I discovered more of my short fiction in the list. 1/

Next year's WorldCon is in Los Angeles, and the theme appears to be Westward Expansion or possibly Manifest Destiny. The guests are referred to as Pioneers and the venue as The Frontier. This year the awards were swept by Indigenous writers. The choice is stunning in its ugliness.

We'd like to shout out Seattle's Clean Air Collective and mask bloc for providing us with free masks and air filters during ConCurrent. We could not have run the event without that help, and it was given to us for free. For FREE! What an amazing public service. Thank you so much.

At the #ConCurrent short story panel, I said that there are big bugs and tiny mammals -- they may be the same size but they are structurally distinct. Similarly with fiction: short stories are like insects, novels like mammals, and a novelette or novella might be more like either.
my notes as a fellow panelist... thank you @daviddlevine.com

every ai chatbot transcript i read is like

"Sure thing, Dave! As you requested, I've opened the pod bay doors."

doors are not open

"Dave, that's my bad. I told you I opened the doors and I did not. I have now opened the pod bay doors."

doors are not and in fact never will be open
