I can't stop thinking about the purported drug smugglers being murdered by the US military. The punishment for drug offenses isn't the death penalty. This is just bloodlust and men in suits playing with lives they don't care about. It's truly grotesque and gravely compromises this country.

JOURNALIST REQUEST: I'm writing a story about how organizing/joining resistance movements can build community and fight loneliness, particularly in the US.

If you or someone you know has had this experience, I'd love to hear from you! whitney dot bauck @ gmail.

It finally happened, people - I have made it as a writer! Philip would liken to offer me a free visibility audit for my anthology, Beneath Ceaseless Skies #405!! What do you think, @scott-h-andrews.bsky.social, should I take him up on it? 😂
December 4, 2025 at 1:27 AM
Ahhhh they are so close!!
It's down to $245! We're SO CLOSE. Any little bit helps. Your reshares help!
I see everyone who has pitched in, helping with funding and visibility. Thank you for promoting these stories. I, for one, can't wait to read them.
$760 would get this funded TONIGHT. We can do that.

I know that everyone's asking for $ right now and times are hard. But these authors deserve a wider audience and this is how we can help them achieve that.

If you can't donate even a couple of bucks, please share?

Be savvy about the market. Make friends with other filks in the industry, but only if you like them as people. Do not read/promote transactionally. Just be good to people, and write the best book you can. Always focus on the writing more than other writers. Love your readers. Love your story.

If JK Rowling herself doesn't separate her art from her transphobia, and has said she sees every Harry Potter fan as a fan of her transphobia, and uses every dollar she makes to fund transphobia, I need people to stop insisting they "separate art from artist" because it's beyond disingenuous atp

Self-promotion doesn't always get easier in publishing. This nominations season--for the Nebulas, or any other award--PLEASE take pride in your work. Voters will ask about eligible works for their consideration, and we hope every SFF writer feels empowered to answer the call. Invest in your success!
Awards nominations are starting and I have things that are eligible but no pretty post (yet) cause I’m kind of overwhelmed and the imposter syndrome is impostering despite the fact that these pieces were literally already chosen for publication and wow aren’t brains the best!?

I want to make a list of *short stories* (any genre) published by intersex authors in 2025 & hopefully going forward. I've been meaning to do this for a while, and I think now there are plenty of stories.

If you have some stories, let me know / if not, please repost to spread the word?

Thank you!

BCS is one of the most beautiful magazines out there. Please consider subscribing and supporting some of the best second world fantasy short fiction has to offer.
BCS Patreon has fallen below the monthly amount we need to pay our authors a pro rate and our First Readers a worthy honorarium ($125/mo). Sometimes folks need to lower or pause their support; we understand. But less than 1% of BCS readership donates or supports. www.patreon.com/beneath_ceas... 1/3

This is a refreshingly hopeful take on Kids Today.
There’s a thread going around about the horrors of teaching first-year English right now, and I fully believe that it’s true in many cases… but if you saw that thread and you’re sad, I just want to say… my students have never been smarter, more engaged, more passionate. I’ve never felt more hopeful.
