Agree with the gist here. Given Spurs’ fairly unique financial position in the PL balancing smart prime age buys with a larger volume of promising young player buys and a high functioning academy is key.

They’ve struggled with prime age buys which is why Eze is so exciting. But they need all three.

The gold standard on the chips, how they work and how/when to play them is always from James at @planetfplpod.bsky.social

I’m sure he’s been recommended already but if you only listen to one pod, that’s it. And the Patreon is definitely worth it.

Yes, that’s right. You get the one a week plus two wildcards (one in each half season) allowing unlimited changes in the week you play it. And new this year is that everyone will get topped up to 5 free transfers in Week 16 (I think) to prepare for Afcon departures and the holiday fixture pileup.
August 5, 2025 at 1:03 PM
I see the logic. Just wonder if starting with 2 is enough. Transfers are precious (you get one a week and can store up to 5 at a time) so having two and wanting a third costs you less than having three and needing to bail entirely. Also, you want to use as many transfers as you can on attackers.

Oh, and three from any defense is very risky. I’m as COYS as anyone and that’s a might big bet on a defensive turnaround you’ve got there.

It’s important to start w/ players that have high expected minutes. Fixture runs are super important. The best FPL players stay close to the consensus “template” to start and adjust when they start getting new season data. The pods you solicited yesterday will help you sort the template. Good luck!

What types of restaurants are you seeking? We’ve got so many good ones!

They’ve now beaten two really good teams in two weeks. For the first time in a long time it feels to me they’re on fairly even footing in the conference championship. Enjoy this. This is the good stuff.

Go Bills.

Ps - if you’ve made it this far I’m so sorry for the length of the post!

The Ravens didn’t lose because of Lamar. But he wasn’t good enough to win it for them either. He has to own all the plays, the good and the bad. His post game comments make it very clear he knows that.

In the end the Bills game plan worked. And they move on. And it’s now Chiefs week.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
But they had a plan and they stuck to it when in the past Allen would have gotten bored and started to press and things could have unraveled.

And for the record I think Josh and Lamar are both awesome. I think they’re both MVP caliber virtually every year.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
But the Bills seemed to understand that being methodical and playing close to the vest was what was called for on this occasion.

Should they have been more aggressive to get that fourth touchdown in the third quarter? I think so.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
The funniest thing is that the Bills got a below average game from Allen. Still a good game but by his standards it was maybe lower quartile for him? If he plays just a little better the Bills win by two scores. Maybe three.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
And even had Andrews corralled that two point conversion they still wouldn’t have had the lead.

Oh and that Allen guy - giving him 93 seconds to get a field goal probably wasn’t going to end the way Ravens fans wanted. Allen is arguably the greatest playoff QB ever.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
As great as everyone wants to say Lamar and the Ravens played in the second half, they scored 15 points. Which is good. But it’s also not the Greatest Show on Turf either.

The Ravens led for under 2 minutes of game clock. They last led with 54 minutes and 4 seconds left to play. 54:04.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
But we ain’t buying. We know the Bills are just as good as the Ravens and that they have a mentality that makes them a better bet for playoff success. The Bills won this game. It wasn’t a gift.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
My point is the media will tell you over and over that football is complicated, that you can’t interpret what you’re seeing at face value and without context. Many of them are the same ones leaning into the Ravens as self saboteurs narrative.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Say what you want about the Bills roster. What it lacks in brand value it more than makes up for in guys that play hard, play smart, play for each other, and now thanks to the national discourse, play angry.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
If you’re really grasping for straws, they did allow a sack. That’s pretty infrequent for the Bills.

If you ignore the kneel down at the end of the first half, almost 40% of Ravens drives ended in turnovers. In a low volume game three turnovers are unforgivable. They’re so much worse than punts.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
They also protect the ball so well. So far this season Allen has one more INT than Lamar. He also has zero fumbles lost. Lamar has 5. Those are turnovers, too.

The only Bills penalty was Dion Dawkins getting called for the phoniest holding ever - pure comedy.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
And to say those turnovers were the sole result of mental errors by the Ravens is frankly insulting.

The Bills did things schematically and through execution that led to those errors, both on the plays in question and on all the plays around them.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
That’s just not good enough to win games like this. Won’t get it done. Where are people accounting for that?

The Bills have won or been even in turnovers for more than a full season. It’s not dumb luck. They generate a lot of takeaways. A lot.

Where was that in the discourse?
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Three turnovers in the biggest game of the year? Balls bouncing off chests? A bevy of penalties? A failure to adjust an offensive game plan that was frankly too high variance given the game was played in the cold, at night in front of a raucous enemy crowd?
