I like to re-share this picture of me presenting at Google to an audience including the FBI, because yes, I will fight for digital rights and better privacy and security by design. And I will have great hair while I rip apart tech bro work and egos. Especially edtech egos.
Me standing in front of slide that reads we need careful, considered thoughtful privacy design so that life can be led recklessly, fuy, fearlessly

Research backed in air quotes here. Can we do better and have someone from a marginalised group talk about inclusion. Not just buzzwords

An article in which Alex Q is paid to regurgitate an EEF Guidance report- an organisation he works for.

Oh dear.

I flinch every time someone senior quotes EEF as if it is something independent

I have had similar and I despair

My kids get Seneca etc which is mostly LLM generated and marked by ai
risu.bsky.social
Oh I agree. It is awful! I couldn’t do it now. It was bad enough years ago
risu.bsky.social
As one example one excellent trainee told me they had struggled for a while to get Gen ai to create a worksheet for Spanish vocab. That would have been done in minutes in a collaborative group or even a chat with another teacher. You’d get a whole unit of work most likely from an experienced teacher

Talking to our cohort of trainee teachers and they are all using gen ai. I get it for lesson planning ( no one reads that bs) but when I warn them about not isolating, not giving IP to these apps and the value of community, they look at me like I am mad. Teacher training is letting them down imo

It is a real pain tbh over here in Europe as we can’t park our tanks or missile launchers without a permit except on weekends. I had to downsize to a Toyota

You can honestly tell when a full moon is happening if you work with children.
risu.bsky.social
BTW I speak to safeguarding leads at schools all the time and they just don’t want to know because EEF or some other partisan edu body is pushing AI. We need a lot more of us to talk about this

More MAT folk? I wonder where OAK National fits into this as wasn’t that supposed to be partly a new national standard or something?

I feel sad even about the screen this teacher is using, no hate to him. But LLM are not safe. We can’t recommend them in the same way we can’t give condoms to u16 children or take pictures with them. Basic safeguarding matters and should apply to AI. And saying this in schools is a duty of care

“One of the negative consequences AI is having on students is that it is hurting their ability to develop meaningful relationships with teachers, the report finds. Half of the students agree that using AI in class makes them feel less connected to their teachers.”
Rising Use of AI in Schools Comes With Big Downsides for Students
A report by the Center for Democracy and Technology looks at teachers' and students' experiences with the technology.

People were saying oh Beyonce has variations.. Sure all artists do. But not a new one every damn DAY and all the rest of it. I’m expecting a meme coin next

I am a teacher and I give her a pass, the homework was not set on the app and she gets an accommodation for being a floof.

This is Clio. She did not study for the test today. Also does not know how to read. 12/10 (IG: paspastotoro)
a black and gray long-haired yorkiepoo sits at a desk in a university classroom. a piece of paper lays on the desk in front of her, her paws propped up on the desk as if she's bracing herself. there are students in the background hunched over and working on paper in front of them. the pup looks at the camera with a concerned side eye. she's realizing she probably should have read some of the homework before eating it.

Honestly I don’t know. My daughter got to give a training at her college on this but I don’t find anyone wants to engage easily. You sound like a loon and have to keep confident and it is hard for the average person. I’ve made resources but it is getting them shared

Just why? When we have teams of professionals. Also teachermatic sounds like a roald Dahl thing omg

Almost every cyber and tech man I know is running or has run some kind of “training”. Usually at 2-3k per student. That’s why all these tech CEO want into education - it isn’t just control of the minds, it is because they see “education “ as an easy hustle. Make some slides:profit

SANS , ISC and more all make millions every year because people are told they are never enough, just need one more cert, and the sector is too obsessed with certs that cost 6k to value real qualifications or experience. By design. To keep good folk out and the scam rolling
risu.bsky.social
Sadly the STEN and tech career pipeline has always been a scam. Tech hiring has been some of the worst and I did enquiries on this in 2017 and found the av job search was 18mths. Fake jobs, interview tasks as free work and “just do my bootcamp/course” lies that enrich scammers
bachynski.bsky.social
“Some faulted the tech industry, saying they felt “gaslit” about their career prospects. Others described their job search experiences as “bleak,” “disheartening” or “soul-crushing.”
Among them was Zach Taylor, 25, who enrolled as a computer science major at Oregon State University in 2019”

People in tech ARE actually being indicted by this regime, but sure, post your bs jokes about it and one day when they maybe come for you, no one will even blink because who knows if you are joking still.

Posting your silly hacker meme on Twitter in this year of state kidnapping in the country you live in..and ofc all the fools are liking it because they don’t feel a threat and think sora, Twitter and police kidnap are hilarious jolly good fun. Keep it all. I’m glad I left the sector
Clip of someone’s sora video of themselves being cuffed and put over a police car which this year ain’t no joke is it unless you are a hyper privileged white dude in cyber looking for attention at any cost
risu.bsky.social
I wish I were joking
risu.bsky.social
White men in cyber using Sora to make fake videos of themselves being arrested.. in 2025.. pls.. check your privilege and maybe step away from social media.

Please just work one day in child safeguarding or with some paramedics or even the baristas at Starbucks before you say you are so stressed on your huge cyber salary, wfh and where even if you mess up you won’t lose your job. Take a seat if you sell MH to cyber too.
