1) Critics can be pretty nasty.
2) If you're creating a barrier between your art and people then what's the point?
3) It doesn't matter if it's technically brilliant, what matters is random Joe in the street likes it.

• public humanities education beyond simple literacy
• public school arts and music programs, outright
• libraries, yes really
• the existence of nonprofit status for all organizations except Church + nationalism
Universities, agencies, and states need to resist preemptively—now.
