Head of History. Inevitably trying to bring up medieval history and #SaintsFC into everyday conversation. You came for the pedagogy, stayed for the memes.

Weald & Downland Living Museum was so fantastic on Saturday! Literally a time machine. If you're ever in the south it's worth a visit and if you need me I'll be creating a Houses Through Time project for Year 7 ✌️

I find this a really interesting difference between secondary teachers. and all others. I took interactive to include my big TV/board thingy which has elite drawing capabilities. Why do peeps still like projectors??

At the end of term my daughter, T, excitedly told us about Mary Kingsley. T seems most interested in "girls" being in History. So, after seeing @kat-oc-kearey.bsky.social post yesterday, we got going on some proper good stories!

Very enjoyable but parts felt a bit flat. However, from a historical anti-colonialism POV, very powerful (if a bit slightly rough around the edges) but the level of historical knowledge needed is a big reminder of the need for context to access novels lole this. Anyone else read it?

Taking the plunge for 2025/26 with GCSE booklets. 3/4 booklets made since January - and I wonder why I'm exhausted at work...

Just Restoration England to go.

Roll on summer

2/4 GCSE History topics now transformed into booklets. Lots of work but the first one went so well. Lots of reading, structured tasks, and embedded exam question practice. And after feedback from very intelligent y11s, they wanted more "space" for their own structure so I've added more blank spaces.

Whoever said never meet your heroes clearly didn't like History.

A happy* history teacher after paper 1 for once! Sitting on a field of victory enjoying some well earned comforts.

Cor blimey the labour of love has arrived! A complete booklet for the final 25% of our Year 11s GCSE.

This is our first big booklet teach after smaller trials in other years. I'm hoping that if we use these tools correctly, they'll be a game changer!

Never underestimate the power of media for History. I fell in love with History; did my dissertation on the 14th century because of watching A Knight's Tale when I was 10. And I almost did my dissertation on pirates because of Black Flag. Mix in Horrible Histories as a teen and...History obsessed.

When I return to reading History after a few 700 page fantasy books that end on the very last page, and now there are 150 pages of bibliography, endnotes, family trees and an index at the back.

@apf102.bsky.social I think you know the most about the American West than basically...everyone? 😂

Dyou recognise this book? If so, is it any good? Found it at my Great-Grandma's house and piqued my interest on the topic. Sometimes find it crazy how recent some of this History feels

Finally got a copy! This book is so unbelievably awesome and beautiful! I would tag but don't want to leave anyone out.

A joy to read and so human. That's the difference, those tiny stories like Zoe standing on the walls in the evening or Martin Luther praying at night. Outstanding!

Okay, this is incredible. This kid has such an awesome contextual knowledge that just a few lessons on medieval life and he created this off his own back. My modelled version was very 2D/birds-eye-view-y. This is incredible bar a couple misconceptions/anachronisms but wow!!!

In response to @petejackson.bsky.social sharing his latest Y7 assessment here's ours for the first 3 enquiries for Y7. Built upon @michaelfordham.bsky.social mixed constitution idea and MCQ quality and @sehartsmith.bsky.social examples from last year. Thoughts/critique welcome!

My History Club had our first discussion having read @hallierubenhold.bsky.social The Five, Polly's story.

We had a great chat about silences, justice to the past, women's history, reclaiming the narrative and dignity.

Two weeks time we'll talk about Annie.

The kids are alright 👍

Exeter Cathedral. Very unique and very stunning!

Romanesque towers, ribbed vault, flying buttresses, what else do you want?

An abandoned medieval village - Hound Tor village is a prime example of the abandoned villages of the 14th century for the mixof causes.

Definitely an example I'll try and get into my Climate History enquiry this coming year. #historyteacher

One of my wifes weird fears is that if I ever have to leave my current job then what will I do with all the books* I store there? (Lol this isnt even all of them nor a lot in my opinion 😂)

#historyteacher are the GOATs of having strong bookshelves in their classrooms. #edusky

EH Shepherd was also a successful political cartoonist in the 1920s and 30s and I enjoy telling kids in Y11 that the guy who drew this also drew Winnie and they're like 😮
