Aspiring author, penguin enthusiast, and agent of chaos. Also, "I have dreams like you--no really! Just sorta touchy-feely; they mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny, on an island that I own, warm and maybe...not alone?" [PFP by Sam Edmonds, banner by ?]
I haven't wanted to mute words yet on Bluesky, but we now have the capability in the Moderation options.

That pretty much leaves necromancy.
Most traditional american jobs just don’t exist anymore. No longer can I build a giant object in my yard and charge people to see it. I am not allowed to descend a waterfall in a barrel for a hefty fee. My wagon full of questionable handmade potions has been sanctioned and seized by law enforcement.

In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

Kurt Vonnegut was the only one to respond.

His reply was a doozy.

That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Taking 3 hours to accurately explain my religious beliefs in order to avoid misunderstandings when the cashier simply asked me what it is I wanted for lunch

I don't have to agree with a character's point of view, but few things will get me to jump ship faster than if I start to feel like the creator is preaching at me while wearing the character's face.

Thank you, @rowanauthor.bsky.social, for finding this delightful treat. It simply could not be more perfect. I don't think I could afford it just this moment, but I would dearly love to find out how much a print of this would be for when I move and I'm looking to decorate a new apartment.

Merchant of quest items, occasionally useful knickknacks, herbs and spices, and inadvertently cursed trinkets.
🛑✋ STOP! BLUESKY IS NOW A MEDIEVAL VILLAGE! 🏰🌾

what’s your job?

I wish Bluesky allowed for a longer character count. Often the ideas I want to express require more explanation than I can give in the characters allotted.

"Was that a new group I saw this morning?" Brother Andrew asked.
Friar William suppressed a smile as he nodded.
Andrew smirked. "You didn't tell them about Geoffrey, did you?"
"It's not every day you meet a dragon at a monastery, Brother. Best to make the most of it, don't you think?"

Does a character have to make good choices in order to be a morally good character, or is it enough for them to simply avoid morally bad choices?

I'm not sure if y'all can see it from where you are, but the Moon is just gorgeous this morning. It's very nearly 6 AM here and she's still out there smiling on us.

Good morning, Blue. How are you today?
February 19, 2024 at 1:29 PM
Given some recent experiences, I feel it might be useful to remind myself and other guys out there: we're allowed to express our emotions. Certainly self-control comes into play, but if you're in a place where others say you can't express yourself, that's not a good place.

Good morning. I hope those of you who don't have someone to share your days with find something good to really enjoy today, above and beyond the usual.

I've discovered I don't mind talking politics if we're talking principles and ideals, not politicians and legislation. "Red v. Blue" et. al. is merely *exhausting,* but discussing ideals and principles could be productive, if it began and ended with love as its core.

Good morning, Blue. How's you today?

I am doing my darnedest to get my sleep schedule back to something resembling normalcy. I expect to be tired and a tad surly about it, but even so I can try to be kind.

Coffee helps.

I love how Jesus saying "Consider the ant" or "Consider the sparrow" could be interpreted as our Heavenly Father being super duper proud of this thing He made and He's just like, "Lookit!"

There is a subculture shaped around literature that makes book ownership something akin to a competitive sport. Book owners aren't necessarily readers, but some have encroached upon reading spaces with no shortage of elitist snobbery.
"Who does it benefit to treat books like accessories, reading like an accumulation, readership like it’s a ticket to some kind of elite club?"

@mollytempleton.bsky.social discusses language, reading as aesthetics, and how we can find community in book spaces.

If I could take, like, a piece of England and put it in the tropics and have my sunshine and fog and rain and warmth and little cottage on the cliffs, I could be a very, very, very happy penguin.

"This is a thread of my favorite quotes. Because who doesn't like quotes?" - Chapter 3, Verse 7, St. Prolly's Second Epistle to the Opinions, otherwise known as the Book of Second Opinions

Seriously, though. Quotes.

I suppose it could be interesting to start off with an Ask Me Anything thread. Feel free to ask any question, with the understanding "None of your business" is an appropriate answer. Silly or serious, it doesn't matter. Fire at will!

Hello! I'm Rob, a newer face around here. I'm not sure what to expect here, which makes two of us, since neither of us knows what you're in for if you follow me. You can probably expect theology, genealogy, philosophy, literature, and hopefully a laugh or two? I guess we'll see. Come say hello.
