Here's some excellent news from me! I have a new story in this month's issue of The Dark! It's called "His Most Feared Constellation". In a desolate corner of junkspace, a man makes a cup of tea while he waits for his daughter to visit ✨❄️
Front cover of issue 119 of The Dark depicting an apocalyptic yeti (I think!)

I've been catching up on some horror films recently and watched Red Rooms last night. What a film, I cannot stop thinking about it

Oldie but goodie, and still very apt. HAPPY FRIDAY!
Lestat & Louis from Interview w the Vampire (1994). Louis looks exasperated by Lestat and is raising his hand to the side of his face, to cut off whatever Lestat is saying: By Lestat is the word "Life" and by Louis are the words "Me, trying my hardest to enjoy spooky season."

Hello all, my story "Enselfening" is now live in the new issue of The Dark!
I am finding it impossible to come up with a pithy sales pitch for it, apart from saying it's quite weird and I'm proud of it and hope you'll read it 🙏🙏🙏

And here is that very copy of All the Devils Are Here (yes I look after my books, because they are my friends). Twenty years and counting! Anyway I’m very proud to have played a part in giving new life to this particular old book. Loved revisiting it on the new @backlisted.bsky.social.

I read this book last year and it became an instant favourite. If you're looking for non-fiction that feels grubby, liminal and haunted, then this is the book for you. In the first Backlisted ep Rachel Cooke describes Seabrook as someone you feel both afraid of and for. That's really stuck with me.
