Constantly Distracted

Mom of two boys, wife to a patient husband. Internal auditor by day, hockey association treasurer by night.
I thought it was just me because no one else in my household complains about it but I've noticed more chlorine taste/smell recently too. Our under sink filter doesn't seem to help much.

My 17yo is in O2 at Auburn. CH also offers it. He really likes the career focus. Gr 10 they do a 2 1 day job shadows - he went to the Greenwood flight school for one. In gr11 they do coop placements 1x a wk. He's been in a restaurant kitchen for his first one.

But realistically if you request to go to the one that's not your family of schools the school is unlikely to turn you down as it improves their funding is what I've heard especially if it's got a different offering like IB

My niece did IB in Bermuda. She will finish her math degree a semester early from Dal because she took AP exams in enough courses. She's smart and worked/works hard and wanted to be sure her credits would be easily transferrable.

Good luck, I'm sure it will be easy peasy!

Definitely easier to get to that downtown Halifax! Good luck tomorrow on your first day!

Ugh, that sucks but I guess it absorbed the brunt of the impact so it did its job.

Yikes! Glad you're ok, hopefully the bumper is easily fixable.

We often hear the noon gun though usually only faintly and it was definitely louder today.

I think PSAC has these printed up too 😂

Our oldest did YD around the same time as your oldest. We looked at it for Kid2 last year and it was also double what other schools were asking. I maybe would've considered it if they still had in person classes but nope. Def glad we went with 360 instead now.

I'd probably get flashbacks to when I was taking fenugreek after Kid1 was born. It is sometimes used for artificial maple flavouring, and every time I burped I'd taste maple 😜

I saw Maple Pepsi Zero at Walmart this morning. It could be really good or really bad. I don't know if I want commit to a 12 pack to try it though.

Me too! I won a couple of contests (envelope of the week and one where you had to name the date of the Halifax explosion).
Stan did a tour one summer to promote the milk marketing board and I got to meet him and got his autograph and a tshirt!

You're right, I saw the news story about the little guy. It reminded me of the ones on British Christmas cards we've received over the years.

The food is so good! Highly recommend it.

I used to iron way more but my wardrobe currently doesn't have much wrinkly stuff. I leave my husband to do his dress shirts as he sees fit. Sometimes he irons, sometimes he puts a sweater on over it.

Same, D did an overhaul at Christmas and gave away a bunch of outgrown clothes to his friends. It stayed tidy for sbout a week. 😂
January 14, 2026 at 12:02 PM
Kid2 started ironing his clothes around the holidays. For him it was prompted by changing his style a bit from all sweatpants/joggers to adding jeans etc to his repertoire. He stuffs everything into his laundry bag so they are pretty creased by the time he wants to wear them.

Congratulations! How exciting!
January 12, 2026 at 8:41 PM
Thanks, I think it made their day!
