A beautiful jersey tiger moth found its way into my polytunnel. I took a couple of pictures before gently picking him up and letting him out #nature #ukinsects #ukmoths

Noticed that a couple of bumblebees were asleep on my lavender plants in the front garden. Couldn't resist taking some photos as they were still for long enough! #ukinsects #nature #bumblebees

I love my garden and the best bits are all the creatures I share it with. Just one hour today and I saw these: a meadow brown butterfly, Mason bee (I think) and a bee fly/hoverfly #nature #greenspace #gardeningmakesmehappy

@georgemcgavin.bsky.social I wonder if you would be so kind as to id this creature that I found under a pot, please? It's just under 1cm in length. Or indeed if anyone knows, please? #nature

Adult blue shield bug in the garden today. Not great photos as it wouldn't keep still long enough! Nice find. I haven't seen any before #nature #ukinsects

The second robin nest is now empty although I'm not entirely convinced that the chicks fledged. As I didn't want to disturb them I didn't set up a camera. Fingers crossed that I'm wrong and they did fledge and I just missed it 🤞🐦 #nature #ukbirds

I don't think the blackbird was too impressed with sharing her bath with a house sparrow! #ukwildlife #nature #ukbirds #springwatch

Sitting in the lounge with the conservatory door open to the garden and in walks a woody. It got confused and flew into a window. Caught it quickly and let it out. Bit of a shock for it but I think this feathered friend is ok #ukbirds

Happy Wednesday everyone. I'm spending time sewing more seeds and potting on today (with a doctor's appointment in the middle). Here's a picture of the first peony in my garden this year:

Years ago I planted a pink rose underneath a false orange in my garden. The roses are in bloom and I can't wait for the false orange to bloom too. The combination is beautiful. The planting wasn't even planned! #gardening #ukgardens #gardeninspiration #gardeningmakesmehappy

The robin is keeping an eye on me today. I've been so lucky to have the robins nest in one of my small trees and when the chicks fledged the adults moved on to the opposite small tree for a 2nd brood! They are busy feeding the chicks now #ukbirds #robins #nature

Was lucky enough to get some free dahlia tubers when I recently visited a garden in Oxfordshire. The head gardener was going to throw them away so offered them to any takers for free! How lovely was that? #ukgardens #gardening

I was harvesting some nettles for a hair tonic (from my garden) just now. I always check under the leaves and came across these eggs! Bright green cluster. Can't tell if they're Peacock or Tortoiseshell butterfly. Anyone able to ID for me, please? #ukinsects #nature #ukbutterflies
