That's a shame. During autumn I prune mine. Try that but only cut old stems. You'll easily see and recognise new ones. These new ones will be where you should get flowers from. Fingers crossed you will have plenty next year 🤞

Once they are a good size. Don't let them get too big, or too dry. Better when they are runner bean size. You can also cut the tops off and cook them too. The tops are good lightly fried.

Following a photo someone sent me, this may actually be a hoverfly larva. Hopefully that's a correct id.

If they can synthesise the compound that deters ticks then that would be ok, but it would be disappointing if donkey welfare were to be compromised. They are already so badly treated in many countries.

Fascinating. I saw one adult very recently. Up until this year, I've not seen any of that particular species!

Wonderful. Apart from my local nature reserve the grass is constantly cut. No sign of no mow May. Something for @stalbanscouncil.bsky.social to think about.
