I know a little bit about civil engineering. Occasional bridge review and road safety audit opinions.
The article describes well that the direct user has a smaller role in the overall safety of road transportation. Individual responsibility should not be sole focus, and more industry stakeholders should work to increase safety in all aspects. "Not sole-ly" seems more apt.

What I love about this is the sight triangles for all commuters is amazing in this image. There is clear view on all avenues of approach due to great set-back of the buildings and no large obstacles such as on-street parking, ground-mounted transformers, or signal cabinets.

I wish I got to use even 1% of the years of investment I spent in advanced mathematics in application to my profession. That would be tight. Except differiential equations. That's haunted math.

Physical separation is an important aspect of vulnerable user safety in roadway design. Flexible delineators may be a decision for visibility when considering turn radius needs for commercial vehicles, fire rescue access to hydrants, or maint. / snow plow storage needs. Talk with your local admins.
