E. M. Forster started “A Passage to India” without having any idea how it was going to end.

Hemingway stopped writing mid-sentence each day so the next day he knew where to start again.

Writers are artists who “find” their way through their material. They aren’t mechanics building from a plan.

Think you are wildly overreading this. As a viewer it hasn’t once crossed my mind that Albuquerque has anything to do with the plot.

Amazing that a man, hearing that story, still thinks he has something to say about the issue.

Oh, my.

That may be true if the general public had only to rely on itself to review the files. But there will remain a diligent group of journalists and third-party investigators who will continue to cull through these files for months and years to come, and the story will never end.

No one has ever had to apologize for being white. But there are a lot of things white people ought to apologize for –– including electing Donald Trump.

Ridiculous. 60 Minutes has routinely aired additional commentary about previously broadcast segments when appropriate. They could’ve broadcast the episode tonight and aired the White House’s comment whenever they received it.

You may not “have to apologize”, but you ought to feel ashamed for saying so.

I guess provocation wasn’t strong enough. Or needling.

We’re also talking about people who must pay back what they borrow, and may see gains turn into losses.

Unless, of course, you are prepared to pay taxes on every increase in value of your pension or your retirement fund because those, too, are unrealized gains.

They do that, and they guarantee a change in the Court by a democratic Congress. Suicide.

There was a time in my adult life when I had faith that the Supreme Court worked from a base of impartiality and good faith. I have lost that faith.

What “fight” were these people engaged in? What weapons did they have? What battlefront were they headed to?

This is an administration using the “national security” excuse to justify every action no matter how lethal as some twisted form of self-defense.
December 5, 2025 at 3:56 AM
Yes. Income tax has already been paid on income earnings, and capital gains taxes have already been paid on investment earnings. Taxing people again after they’ve already been taxed is simply confiscatory. It will lead to people moving wealth out of the country to avoid it.
