🧵 Here's fresh data for you to absorb. What are your "must-have" features in a vehicle?

When we glance over our latest @autopacific.bsky.social research, it's interesting to see the marked differences when it comes to "Must-Have" versus "Nice to Have" amongst generations of new vehicle shoppers.

Yep, I'm already starting to have feelings of regret not taking advantage of that federal tax credit for used EVs...

Two sources I would never in a million years takes seriously or trust.

The covering up of the glass roof is the dumbest thing I've seen in years.
robbydegraffap.bsky.social
Guys...does the new base Tesla Model 3 *actually* have manually-adjustable side mirrors? I know they now manually fold in/out, but to adjust the glass itself is it manual? Literally on a sleuth to find out.

It's equally frustrating and depressing.

"Only six states offer incentives of $5,000 or more, and some offer help only to the most low-income residents or for the least expensive EVs...After all, to pay people to buy a car, a state has to be able to afford it — a big ask in an era of strapped state budgets" www.politico.com/newsletters/...
Trump axed the EV tax break. Can states replace it?

I can't fathom *still* buying either of the new entry-level Tesla Model 3 Standard or Model Y Standard over other EVs that are far better equipped and cheaper...

Yes unfortunately very true.

Not to brag, but THIS is how to do a headline.

Details on the new entry-level $39,990 Model Y Standard if you're curious:

-$5k cheaper than Model Y Premium.
-321 miles of range, rear wheel drive.
-Smaller 18" wheels.
-No rear lightbar.
-Heated front seats.
-15.4" center screen, no rear screen.
-Can still be had with FSD Supervised.

Welll the new Model Y Standard looks as generic and milquetoast as I expected it to be...

All that said, Tesla does need this now that the federal tax credits are gone.

I continually will rave about how utilitarian, simple, and practical the interior of Land Rover's Defender is. It's just so well thought out. Also insanely spacious, excellent visibility, and the latest Pivi Pro infotainment is far more tolerable.

2025 Defender 110 X-Dynamic SE seen here.

Know Your BL Colours:
No: 17 Bronze Yellow

One of BL’s 1st ‘showroom friendly’ Austin Morris (& MG) colours introduced in 1969, this found favour with sporty models like the Austin/Morris 1300 GT (one of three initial colour options available - Flame Red & Glacier White were the others)…

-EV and PHEV sales fell about 24% but accounted still for more than a third of total Q3 sales.
