I'm usually suuuper careful about backs because I mostly like doing geometric/ colour block/ sampler/ blackwork type things and it's just easier then! This one's a bit of a state compared to that stuff because there are so many colours packed into the space of a 3" hoop 😅

Full disclosure tho: these guys are adapted from a Mango pattern that's no longer available, I didn't fully make them up from scratch. Just fixed their outfits & other bits to resemble the characters.

Here! Various versions in case anyone prefers one format over others. I used 32ct linen, 2x2 for the crosses, 1 strand for backstitch, but in hindsight kinda wish I used sewing thread for the backstitch for a finer outline at this tiny scale? The floss looks ok though!

And a couple of minor notes:

2) Recommend linen or evenweave cos there are single thread jumps in lots of the backstitch & that makes it easier to count & be accurate, but aida will be totally fine too - just use a sharp needle for the backstitch instead of a tapestry needle so it's easier to pierce the blocks where necessary 💖

1) These are the colours I used (I'm away from home with limited thread options right now!) & definitely recommend subbing something slightly darker for 3756 so Stediecat's sleeve shading shows up better. The contrast looked enough in the skeins but isn't really visible in teeny adjacent crosses.
