Also, this article states that obesity is the cause of poor metabolic health. In fact, poor metabolic health is the cause of obesity. This is why only 65% of Americans are obese or overweight, but 93% of Americans manifest some form of metabolic dysfunction.

There are three things right with them: 1) eat real food; 2) lower the sugar; and 3) cut back on ultraprocessed food. If they just stopped there, the guidelines would be perfect. But unfortunately, there's all sorts of gobbledygook about saturated fat, protein, and whole grains.

I was a member of this committee for a hot 2 days, until RFK politicized the science and so I quit. Not surprisingly, these new guidelines are just as politically motivated as the previous ones, but this time it's the meat and dairy industries with the undue influence.
