The department dressed as Suprme Court justices at work. We had name tags but I had this hat on and no one needed my name tag to know who I was.

Took this video on the drive from Akureyri to Siglufjörður. Great drive and I loved the town. Doubt I’ll make it back there next month but in the spring for sure. #Iceland

I was there once in September and the wind and rain were quite something. Also fun to see in November, when a lot of it is frozen:

Dr Cecilia Payne. Important to Physics but didn't receive recognition for many years because she was a woman.

Here is the alt text for the image, which is a photo of Cecilia Payne.

The Magician is Colm Tóibín's biographical fiction of the life of Thomas Mann. Very interesting so far, though I don't know enough about Mann to know which details are fiction and which are not. #Books

"Negroni weather". That state of affairs in which the weather is either too hot or too cold, too wet or too dry, too sunny or too cloudy, too foggy or too clear, and so on.

Reading a book by Ragnar Jónasson. The characters, coming from Siglufjörður, stop at the gap between the tunnels from Siglufjörður to Ólafsfjörður. When I drove through there, I stopped and walked around in that same place because I really liked it. Fun to come across it in a book! This is near.

One from me last May. I was there at the beginning of July, this year, and will be back in November for Iceland Noir.

OK, back on this app after weeks of being buried in some reorganization taking place at work, as well as a one-week trip to #Iceland with my daughter (first time there for her). What did I miss? 😀

Made a “Negroni” with equal parts gin, Campari, and this Icelandic krækiberja liqueur, along with a dash of orange bitters. Flavors worked but it was a bit heavy. If I make it again I’ll go heavier on the gin instead of using equal parts.

Panoramic of Reykjavík.

Last day in Reykjavík (already). Couldn’t ask for a nicer one.

@onefootiniceland.bsky.social Made it over here today. Had the ísbjörn but they didn’t have the chocolate bar you mentioned. The ice cream was great, though!

I’ve driven through Selfoss a few times but never stopped. Today I spent the morning walking around town and had lunch there. Here’s a video of the Ölfusá river. It runs about 14 miles and is formed from the combining of the Sogið and Hvítá rivers north of Selfoss. #Iceland

Started this morning around Skipholt and Nóatún, where I’m staying. Walked to the University, then out to Grótta island, where I am now. You can clearly see Akranes and, though my camera couldn’t pick it up, Snæfellsnes, beyond. #Iceland

Always get a lot of walking done in Reykjavík. On mornings like this it’s no wonder.

Came across this at the bookstore today. Just started it, but so far very interesting. #Iceland
