[email protected] Premier Houston has big ideas on offshore wind power

Australia is having big problems

"Building a wind turbine requires significant amounts of steel, copper and aluminium, all of which doubled or tripled in price between 2020 and 2023".

Why offshore wind developers are pulling out at the last minute: Lessons for Australia | RenewEconomy
The cancellation of Hornsea 4 in the UK follows a spate of similar decisions elsewhere. What is causing developers to pull out when they are due to make their final investment decision?

Imagine - free electricity for NSians

"Wind farm is producing next to no power

it is not because there is not enough wind available

There is too much — or rather too much renewable energy supply and not enough demand in Western Australia at this moment."

www.abc.net.au/news/2025-11...
Free power as wind farms grind to a halt. What’s happening?
Mountains of clean power are regularly "wasted" as Australia's energy system evolves. But a large amount of battery storage is waiting in the wings, ready to soak it up.

My point is that doing the hard work is how we learn.

If I had asked a machine learning tool to analyze death records for violent deaths, I would have never discovered the tuberculosis outbreak.

The monthly number of Nova Scotians on the Need a Family Practitioner list has dropped like a stone, totally out of sync with the rest of Canada. At the same time, the numbers tracking the changes disappeared totally.

Suppose that generative AI does ultimately kill the job market. What happens next?

I argue that the tragic lessons of the Thatcher era can serve as a warning.

I wonder why they don't use effective airborne transmission mitigations in our healthcare facilities. The VG nearly killed my father by infecting him twice. Entire wards get infected and they still won't clean the air or wear N95 respirators. Strang still hasn't even told us it's primarily airborne.

I predicted after the election a CPC MP would consider crossing the floor to the Liberals. I’m not shocked that it’s d’Entremont and not shocked that it’s happening when they need the votes to pass the budget.
Holy shit!! A Conservative MP just came out and publicly told Politico he’s considering crossing the floor to the Liberals.

Major scoop from @mickeydjuric.bsky.social and Zi-Ann Lum!!!!

There are numerous stories . Here's one:

No kidding. It's gross NS Health didn't warn people sooner. And, hand-washing doesn't prevent airborne spread. Please wear a mask & get vaccinated.

How many have died in NS because of under-spec steel guardrails? @nsgov.bsky.social

The dirty secret of infrastructure budgeting is that "affordable" rarely means "durable." Many low-cost guardrails are installed with the best intentions and the worst materials

Why Affordable Steel Highway Guardrails Actually Cost More Long Term - Jalopnik
Cutting the budget on safety is always a risky proposition, but when it comes to highway guardrail materials, it actually costs more to spend less.

If you want expensive power a decade from now (that never arrives on budget), by all means choose nuclear. But if you want cheap power as soon as next year, choose wind, solar and storage. The economics are straightforward. #EnergyTransition

I’m real curious why hundreds of homes going weeks without access to running water doesn’t qualify as some level of emergency. Annapolis County hasn’t offered residents any supports like distributing drinking water.

Premier Houston of @nsgov.bsky.social off shore wind power dreams will need a huge investment in transmission lines and controls.

European solar and wind power additions overwhelm the transmission system.
