I had to break the news to Alex and Ben: if I wanted funding, I'd have to recast. It was incredibly unfair and there’s still a bad taste in my mouth from the experience. Ultimately LANTERNS FOR THE DEAD was never made.

Everyone involved felt they were the perfect buddy team, and I believed they could've carried the planned feature film LANTERNS FOR THE DEAD. Unfortunately, not everyone shared my vision. One potential investor's comment – "Alex is too gay" – in reality, Alex is not gay, but it sealed the deal.
