I think the first half of that show was excellent, more or less, but that the second half was a bit of a mess and that the priest got a redemptive arc that he did not really earn.

I always understood it to mean the half hour, when the big hand is on the 6 (i.e., at the bottom of the analog clock face). Top of the hour being "the big hand is on the 12."
