Greetings from ACTFL 2024 conference in Philadelphia 🙂Very happy to be presenting our scoping review of research on teaching and learning Arabic, completed with Dr Anna-Maria Ramezanzadeh, funded by www.qfi.org and @oxforddeptofed.bsky.social.

I just finished my minor corrections so am done with the PhD. I found out lots of fun stuff and it will become a book about L2 listening for teachers. Key take-aways: listeners find non-existent L1 words often. Sound overrides sense. Even high ability learners rarely access grammar when listening.

A warm welcome to our new students on the MSc in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition (ALSLA) here at @oxforddeptofed.bsky.social! In our first session, we found out how many languages are spoken in the group - 20!

We have just launched two online, part time Postgraduate Diplomas at Oxford. One in English as an Additional language and the other in Early Childhood Education. Perfect for in service teachers wishing to gain formal qualifications in these areas.
