I think we all know if the next Democrat President signed an EO like this the media would bend over backwards to illustrate how non-binding it is while screeching about federal overreach.

Our media is as complicit in the rise of authoritarianism as anyone else.

We will fight authoritarianism by continuing to elect the"opposition party" members that have done nothing to oppose it, b/c they are funded by almost the same wealthy donors.

Genius strategy.

Because turning the totally perfectly effective "marketplace of ideas" into a casino will only help the misinformation problem.

It's literally an idea ripped straight from the last season of Star Trek: Discovery.

The ship's doctor pulls up a hologram version of his abuela to ask it cooking instructions and help with a spiritual crisis.

It was stupid and weird on the bad scifi show, it's worse in real life.

As heinous and immoral as Trump's bombing of fishing boats without oversight or repercussion is, Obama's "kill list" was not a far cry from claiming the same dictatorial power to kill anyone, anywhere, without reservation.

And Trump hasn't murdered a US citizen, yet.

For anyone skeptical of this analysis, I point them to the Obama years, after Bush/Cheney had illegally invaded Iraq, implemented mass surveillance, and a "legal" regime of torture.

We looked forward, not backward, now that the "good guys" had all the same powers, including extra-judicial killing.

It is my God given American right to own any vehicle I want, especially if it helps harm my fellow citizens.

Centrist Democrats want to believe we still live in a world where "I'm part of the sensible middle, willing to reach across the aisle to get moderate reforms done" is a winning strategy.

People need radical change to solve their problems, not compromise with fascists.
