Low earners do pay tax, just not on their small incomes. Alcohol Tobacco. Petrol taxes are extremely high.VAT is above average. It's a political choice as to how we do it. Income tax kicks in much earlier in Germany. Is it somehow better? Nazi AFD is topping the polls

We have a very high VAT rate which is paid by everyone and disproportionately affects low earners

Small point but comparing anything with Irish GDP gives mad figures. It grew by 15.8% so far this year!
