This is only the beginning. Next time I tell this story, New Phyrexia will unveil its greatest weapon, thousands will unite in resistance, and thousands more will be converted into New Phyrexia's legion. I hope you return for next time.

Have an excellent day, and thank you for reading.

New Phyrexia's conquest across the multiverse is a massive story of incredible battles and atrocities. It is such a massive story that I must reserve several days for its retelling. But while I am sad to leave you on a cliffhanger, I do hope you enjoyed reading the story of the rise of Elesh Norn.
November 16, 2024 at 7:48 AM
Ashiok, the planeswalker summoned an image of an archangel named Elspeth Tirel, a once human planeswalker who was immune to Phyresis, and could not be turned into a Phyrexian for Norn to command. In a rage, Norn declared she would kill Elspeth.

To some, this declaration showed Norn's fear.

Around the same time, Elesh Norn's enemies began to show themselves. At one point Norn attempted to compleat a woman before a crowd, but failed horribly. After investigation, Norn discovered she was having a nightmare created by a powerful planeswalker named Ashiok. When Norn tried to attack (con't)

Elesh Norn bargained with Tezzeret, offering a body made of darksteel, a material that could resist the decay, in exchange for access to the Planar Bridge. Tezzeret agreed, and with his help, Elesh Norn began the first advances to conquest of the multiverse.

And not a moment too soon.

In Kamigawa there was a man named Tezzeret. Many moons before the events of this story, Tezzeret was ordered to steal a portal to other worlds known as the Planar Bridge. He did do by melding it with his body, but at the cost of it decaying his body over time.

From her new position of power as the leader of New Phyrexia, Norn set to spread their influence far and wide, to perfect the entire multiverse into a sole Phyrexian Empire.

For the first step of this conquest, Norn turned to the plane of Kamigawa, a cyberpunk land with a man in desparation.

But Elesh Norn needed more. With overwhelming might her forces defeated the two most resistant Praetors and their forces, while the remaining two were easily convinced to join Norn's side. With this great victory, Elesh Norn became the Mother of Machines, the highest power in all of New Phyrexia.

In the battle that saw the New Phyrexian's conquer Mirrodin, Norn captured an angel known as Atraxa. Seeing her as a worthy adversary, Norn decided to reward her with compleation.

The process of compleation transformed Atraxa into a Phyrexian, and under Norn she became a symbol of Phyrexian unity.

As New Phyrexia was formed in Mirrodin, Elesh Norn's influence grew. She created a faction of Phyrexians devoted to the teachings of Yawgmoth and to spreading those beliefs far and wide. Even if they had to mutilate and reform those who did not believe into something worthy of existence.
November 16, 2024 at 7:48 AM
But she wasn't exactly from Mirrodin. You see, there used to be a great empire called Phyrexia, lorded over by a man named Yawgmoth, the father of machines, defeated long ago. In his remains, new Phyrexians rose and infected the land of Mirrodin, causing the formation of the 5 Phyrexian Praetors.

Thank you for reading today's story of the day, I sincerely hope you enjoyed. Tune in for tomorrow's story which will probably be very different.

And don't worry, this isn't the last story about tanks I'll tell.

But this would not last long, as the USSR held their armored divisions strong, and as the Cold War began, so did the arms race as America sought every innovation to compete with the Soviet Union's lines of T-34's and T-85's. But that is a story for another time.

At this point, tanks started to see a period of unpopularity, as WW2 saw the introduction of anti-tank weapons like Panzerfaust and Recoilless Rifles. There also came the idea that tanks were only valuable for armor, not firepower.
November 15, 2024 at 6:19 AM
When WW2 ended, a new standard for tanks were set. Gone were the days of tanks strictly being held for infantry support, in came the era of tank on tank combat.

The Tank Division strategy became a standard across all armies, and tanks have since been upgrades to take on any other tank in combat.

In 1944 the US finally decided to catch up and released the M26 Pershing, which touted a 90 mm barrel and finally compared to the likes of the German Tiger's 88 mm barrel. The British also produced a prototype of a tank comparable to the Panther named the Centurion.
November 15, 2024 at 6:19 AM
While the M4 Sherman was successful when it was introduced and became the primary tank used across the entirety of the allied forces, it was quickly outpaced in firepower by the Tiger and T-34. The US did not worry about this however, as they believed tanks should be left for infantry support.
November 15, 2024 at 6:19 AM
The M4 was preceded by the M3 Grant tank, which had it's barrel placed in the hull instead of in the turret on top. This was because the US needed to build tanks extremely quickly when they suddenly joined the war, and putting the gun in the hull was just faster production wise.
November 15, 2024 at 6:19 AM
However, all of those tanks paled in comparison to the raw firepower of the T-34 and Panther. But the good news was, America had entered the war by then, and they spare no expense in firepower.

The US supplied Britain with M4 Sherman tanks, which made up for the lack of firepower in droves.
November 15, 2024 at 6:19 AM
With all this innovation in the East, you may be wondering what was going on in the West?

Britain maintained use of the infantry tank, creating the Churchill tank, which was more durable. They also created cruiser tanks, like the Cromwell and Crusader, which were much faster.
