Presenting: the new and improved www.wherewolfcomic.com! Designed by my wife and featuring the first of what will be weekly online webcomic drops, this site is better than I ever could have hoped for.

In the late '70s, Marvel took Man-Wolf, a D-list Spider-Man villain, and turned him into a sword and sorcery fantasy hero. It's a werewolf, with a bow and arrow and sword. You can probably understand why I'm obsessed. I never thought I'd get an action figure of this nutty lil' dude. Praise Stargod.

The River Oaks Theatre's schedule this week is packed with great stuff to watch including Bill Condon's THE KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, DON'T LOOK NOW, and THE FALL. See you at the movies!

I'm not 100 percent sure how I feel about non-Latinx creators telling this story, but the book is almost twenty years old, so what's done is done. And, anyway, I guess the bottom line is that the book is an entertaining and loving tribute to Mexican wrestlers and crime noir.

I enjoyed STRONGMAN, an early (the first?) comic book from writer Charles Soule and artist Allan Gladfelter about a washed-up luchador who spends his days and nights punishing his liver until he's recruited to get to the bottom of a series of illegal organ harvests among the local Latino population.

Amazon have removed the guns from their Bond posters, giving the tantalising impression that Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan think you’re a wanker.

I really enjoyed HAUNTED HOTEL on Netflix. It's the perfect combination of things I love: animated comedy, ghostly shenangians, brutal mothman-related carnage, and, what I'm going to assume is a very intended explicit reference to the creators' favorite graphic novel.

We’re crewed up for The Fog this weekend! Easily in my top ten.

Feast your eyes on just a fraction of the films that will be playing at the River Oaks Theatre this October. See the full line-up at www.theriveroakstheatre.com. Well, most of the full line-up. At least three more movies still need to be put on sale...

It's scary season in Houston, and as usual, Rob delivers. Plus, one of the few theaters in town getting @realgdt.bsky.social's FRANKENSTEIN!

There hasn't been a new issue of AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE published in almost ten years. It would be nice to get, you know, new issues of the comic book but I guess this is also a thing that can happen.

In @chron.com - This viral Houston Halloween display got online conservatives crazy angry. I went and spoke to the guy who put it up. A Mexican Houston native, he said he did it to protest Trump's immigration raids: "I believe in my freedom of speech."

I've been working my way through Gregory McDonald's non-FLETCH books and really dug LOVE AMONG THE MASHED POTATOES, his 1978 epistolary novel about a seasoned if unremarkable reporter who finds himself writing an advice column. It's a great satire of journalism and, as expected, very, very funny.

I enjoyed chatting with the Chron about the work we've been doing at the River Oaks Theatre to help make Houston a better town for cinemaniacs. I've been working in film exhibition in this city for 14 years, and let me tell you, the future has never looked brighter.

Is Houston a great movie town? It’s only a matter of time.
It may not be Los Angeles, but Houston's community of film buffs is growing.

8 down, 3 to go in the HK Cinema Classics series at the River Oaks Theatre.
I feel like I should get a prize if I make it to all 11 screenings, like free wonton soup.

Here's my very nerdy criticism of MARVEL ZOMBIES, a mostly entertaining TV show: Watching animated versions of MCU characters voiced by their live-action counterparts have emotional death scenes will devalue the fan experience when the MCU tries to play the same cards in DOOMSDAY or SECRET WARS.

The conspiracy theory I will die defending, though, is that Oscar was inserted into the first few episodes after they were shot and written and producers realized they needed a more pronounced connection to THE OFFICE. His role in the first half of the season is so vaporous compared to the second.

I watched (and enjoyed) THE PAPER this past month. I may have graduated with a marketing degree, but my real college education was in journalism thanks to the time I spent working for the school paper. I will always appreciate a series that takes the care to show the importance of the free press.

Sorry for the delayed response. Took some time off social media this week. I'm looking into the possibility, for sure.
