Mild-mannered history teacher by day. Cat mum, vintage collector, and romance writer on the weekends.
Has anyone else ever walked into a pitch, and from the get-go, the agent/editor is CLEARLY uninterested in anything you have to say? And you walk out with the feeling that you could have pitched literally anything and they wouldn’t have cared? #writing #romancelandia #pitches #rejection

Question for #academicsky folks - is there anyone currently downloading all the data from the DOE website, especially the grant-funded research? The pattern's been pretty clear: the second cuts are announced, the data disappears. There appears to be no alt Dept of Ed to ask.

Although the roughly 65 books that live on my desk chair may have something to say about that. #reading #toomanybooks

One of the best books I’ve ever read - “Devil in the Grove” by Gilbert King, about Thurgood Marshall and the fight to save the Grove Boys, who were wrongfully accused of raping a white woman in 1949. #BlackHistoryMonth #reading

Editing the latest draft of my #WIP and just ran across a couple of paragraphs I don’t remember writing, but I love! (Don’t ask how many drafts I’ve got. I don’t want to think about it.) #writing #writingcommunity #romance

Hey, #authors, especially #romanceauthors - this bill just proposed in Oklahoma could have some chilling ramifications on those of us who write anything but sweet stuff. If you’re in Oklahoma, write your local rep (or better yet, CALL them).

This is our campus cat, Binx. Binx lives across the street from my building. Every morning, he goes out the cat door of his house, comes over, and hangs out with the students - and in the afternoons, with the faculty. And sometimes, he gets high on catnip.

This old iron bridge is on my way to work, and the fog was so beautiful this morning, I had to go photograph it. Just using an iPhone, no editing. #photography

Absolutely loved this one - “Love Story” by Lindsey Kelk! Loved it as a romance reader, an Anglophile, and a Swiftie. Loved it on all levels. :) Need a semi-sweet distraction? This could be the one.

Although the #ReadICT Challenge (Wichita Reads Challenge) isn’t on BlueSky, I’m participating - 12 categories, 12 books, 1 year. First up was “Reckless” by Elsie Silver - working for 1 of 3 categories. LOVED this book! For more on the Challenge, check out www.facebook.com/groups/71170...
