Common Bluesky user. Vastly uninformed economic argument relying on incorrect financial data and when rebutted with an actual source, blocks instead of defends their position or learns. The user argued China and Japan have 1/4 of US debt - all nations don't even have 1/4. Combined, they own ab 5-6%.
Not even 10% that is just a straight up lie. The majority of US debt is held by the domestic public (76%, only 24% is held by other foreign institutions). Not even 1/4 of US debt IN TOTAL is owned by foreign countries - let alone just 2.

The market instability is likely intentional. We have 9 trillion+ due this year with rates at 4.5%. If the economy crashes, Powell will lower even if inflation isn’t solved. That will allow us to refi at a much lower rate saving the government hundreds of billions.
