What can I say, my sisters were hippies, and somehow I’m still living off that optimism. … and did you know that you can never have a sensible conversation with someone you belittle?

You can never have a sensible conversation with someone you belittle
We are rightly pessimistic about the future and concerned about our lot in life, but eating a fresh mango with yoghurt and peanuts, I think, I would be the envy of the countless hungry generations that preceded me in the history of mankind, gorging on exotic fruits from distant lands.

Trump has succeeded in making everyone’s heart, collectively speaking, smaller.

We are more hating, more closed to others, more selfish, more divided, less caring, less compassionate and less understanding.

So much of what is posted on social media, including of course Bluesky, would warrant a yellow flag or a red flag for Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Why doesn’t Carney make an aluminum can manufacturing plant part of his nation building plans?

Bluesky users, please treat each other with respect. Opinions inevitably diverge in any healthy exchange of ideas.

One example: you are not going to convince anyone to change their views on Carney by calling his supporters nazi enablers.

Explain what you don’t like about him and I will listen.

The Toronto Star had two good news stories today: a tentative agreement in the postal strike and Canada’s first 100+ storey building. Every comment on these stories was negative.

Even when there is good news, the majority of internet commentators remain in attack mode.

Believe me, I’m not judgemental. Ask anyone who knows me.

But when it comes to Trump I abhor everything he does.

Watching the Canada US hockey championship match, l think of the beautiful tradition that Canadians and Americans have of playing this beautiful game together.

We can’t let Trump erase the fact that our cultures our families, our friendships are intertwined.

He’s so divisive!

On YouTube and even at my local gym there are plenty of body builders with massive muscles, but in my opinion this slightly built, soft-spoken explorer is the toughest, most bad ass man in Canada.

“The Star reported earlier this year that in 2024, Ontario burned more natural gas to make electricity than at any time since the 1990s, eroding the province's oft-bragged "clean energy advantage." Ontario had a 96 per cent carbon-free electrical grid in 2017; it is now only 84 per cent clean.”

The destruction of empathy which is part of the so-called ‘War on Woke’ is a vital component that allows the radical right to rise.

Swathes of a population must be numbed to the suffering that they want to inflict on minorities and society.
