What a surprise: if you want to deport criminals, go to the prisons and pick them up on their release date!

A long, long time ago I clerked for an immigration lawyer who tried to get discretionary relief for the ones that weren’t dangerous but just did something dumb and paid their debt to society.

I would be curious if 2000 acres equates to the map of the 20 families. I would guess they had rights to cultivate the mapped land but actually cultivated less (i.e., only 2000 acres).

Here's a 1965 photo showing some of the agriculture-maybe 5 acres.

Border Patrol has much less power than ICE when they're away from the border or its functional equivalent (including coastal areas).

present locations. I doubt the all the roads and parks were built in 1941. But PVE has no areas suitable for agricultural land and lacked the water supply even if someone were to try.

That article contains more info that I ever knew. Thanks for sharing. I don't know, but it seems the map is just plain false. The only question is whether it was knowingly false. The City of PVE was fully platted when it was incorporated: all the streets and parks were named and located in their

While there may have been Japanese-Americans operating strawberry fields in small parts of RPV (near Marineland), either as renters or owners, the vast majority of the land depicted on this map was undeveloped, without water, and thus unsuitable for cultivation.

I think the map vastly overstates the Japanese ownership on the peninsula. The map seems to show most of the city of Palos Verdes Estates under Japanese ownership, but it wasn’t. PVE was was established as a planned community in 1923 & incorporated in 1939. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palos_V...

FYI Pretty sure the second impeachment was for insurrection. Passed the House and got a majority of the Senate (but not enough to remove from office and bar from future efforts). Not mentioned in SCOTUS opinion, but should have been

Palos Verdes Peninsula! I remember the strawberry fields in the 1970s near Marineland. Notably, the peninsula in this area - and most areas - has high cliffs abutting the ocean. Several hundred feet high. There's not a beach to be found and there's no good landing sites for amphibious warfare.

Same thing happened to enslaved women in America In the 19th century. The power of the enslaver cannot be questioned.
