That shift will likely require bundlers & compilers to work more closely together, enabling smarter cross-module optimization. The tournament for faster builds may eventually give way to a more meaningful contest measured not in developer wait times, but in the performance users actually experience.

In this @redmonk.com post, I argue that given how much time developers waste waiting for builds, the investment is reasonable, but there’s an irony here. Huge amounts of energy have gone into improving DevX, while the actual runtime performance of what ships to the browser remains an afterthought.

If you have any React-based apps, including sites using meta frameworks like Next.js, deployed somewhere, I would highly recommend checking in with your hosting providers communications around yesterday's CVE for React Server Components and get your libraries updated.
A critical vulnerability was recently disclosed in React Server Components (RSC), impacting multiple versions of React, Next.js and other RSC-based frameworks.

This flaw could allow malicious actors to execute arbitrary code within an affected application. 🧵

Good morning with good news: India meets 50% renewables & nuclear capacity target 5 years early!

As clean capacity deploys, clean electricity production surges.

Solar grew from 5 TWh in 2014 to 48 TWh in 2019 & 137 TWh in 2024.

Hydro was 157 TWh; wind 82 TWh; nuclear 55 TWh in 2024. #energysky

CSS: Has the idea of an Open Graph media type been explored? Like print? For example,
@media opengraph {
/* @media layouts for OG sizes here */
}
Feels like the social preview for a given URL should just be another CSS layout. Setting up screenshot services of layouts for meta tags is so 🫠

Going through an absolute foundational, longer read on the energy transition called "The transition to clean energy is accelerating". It's on www.tsungxu.com but unfortunately has gone private since I saved it. Best read I've had in months still.

"Energy dominance," you say?

As of this year, *China is exporting more clean-energy technology than the US is exporting the dirty stuff*.

The future is green energy & China, not the US, is set to dominate it.
