Harris County election workers are the guardians of our Democracy.

This morning, we gathered for our annual training and breakfast with our local election judges.

We thank them for their service and for standing on the front lines to protect the sacred right to vote.

The government’s duty is to protect dignity, not deny it.

End the Trump shutdown.
Keep NFIP issuing policies.
Fund WIC and SNAP.
Extend ACA subsidies.
Put working families first and honor the oath to serve.

As we face cuts from the Trump Admin & revenue caps from the state, it's more critical than ever for Harris County to stand up for working people.
Thank you Rep.

Last week, Commissioners Court passed on considering a new revenue rate.

Trump and Abbott have tied the county's hands so they can undercut our services.

We must do everything we can this budget season to ensure our budget reflects the values and needs of the people of Harris County.

Proud to see Houstonians showing up to fight back against unjust redistricting and assaults on our right to vote.

Let it be known: when democracy is under attack, our community will stand up and fight back.

We must keep speaking out, working toward change, and ensuring that every voice is heard.

Honored to speak at the Marcus Netherly Scholarship 25 years ago.

Now in its 33rd year, I returned as the keynote speaker to honor Marcus, a 14-year-old victim of gun violence.

Gratitude to Mr. & Mrs. Netherly and Reverend Lernette P. Patterson for their commitment to our community and children.

My heart breaks for the families and loved ones of the 27 campers and counselors who lost their lives in the devastating floods at Camp Mystic.

This tragedy is a painful reminder that extreme weather is no longer rare; it's a reality we must be prepared for.

The way someone treats seniors speaks volumes about their politics.

These Senate Republicans just voted to screw seniors over to give billionaires like Donald Trump a tax cut.

I had a great meeting with Sonia Corrales, the Interim President and CEO of the Houston Area Women’s Center.

She and her team's work at HAWC is not only incredible but life-changing.

"I think we've reached a point where some people in government are more interested in tax breaks for billionaires, or whatever they can do to help the people who already own the buses, than those people who have to get on the buses." - Ellis
