UC Davis has a Designated Emphasis in Biotechnology that allows students to engage with industry professionals deb.ucdavis.edu. We also have shadowing programs that allow grad students to interact with and advise leadership grad.ucdavis.edu/CGPSA.

Several of my trainees are considering other options. Many want to go to industry, but one of my DVM/PhD students is focusing more on the clinical side instead of research. Another student wants to be in university administrative leadership. But I still have a few who want to stay on this course.

I agree! We are doing our best to get our papers written and submitted asap no matter what. At least that way my students will have pubs for their next steps and we hope it will strengthen our grant apps. I’m trying not to bleed the $$ stress into the lab but it’s hard. ☹️
