Very honored to have received the Fofonoff award, joining lots of scientists who I admire.

This is really a recognition of the fantastic people I've had the opportunity to work with. Some are on here and you should follow them! @ogonori.bsky.social @breakingniws.bsky.social @zchen43.bsky.social

Proud new owner of a bathythermograph!

Wow! I was at the 2016 colloquium (which has by far the most beautiful room I've ever presented in), and can't believe we are approaching a decade already!

It's about time we start organizing the Liege Colloquium for 2026! Submesocale Processes in the ocean will be the topic, a revisit of the Colloquium of 2016. 10 years of advances!

I'll try to document here the journey towards organizing such an event, maybe there's interest? #LiegeOcean26 🌊🧪

This sort of underhanded planning makes it very uncertain what the final U.S. 2026 science budget will actually look like.

🌊 This July, an extensive algal bloom spread across the Baltic Sea, clearly visible from space thanks to fewer clouds than last year. Our #BCEarthGallery blog shows striking satellite images from 18 and 21 July. #BalticSea #AlgalBloom #EarthObservation #OceanColour

House appropriations meets tomorrow and Thursday.

So if you want to share your thoughts on the 23% cut to NSF, here's who to call: appropriations.house.gov/about/member...
