It all continues to point towards a strong #Influenza season in NH due to #subcladeK "...countries should be prepared for increased demands on their healthcare systems". Wear mask if sick and although #vaccine effectiveness is not ideal, some protection is better than none.

@eurosurveillance.org paper by Ian Barr, et al on
• near-global spread of influenza A(H3N2) subclade K
• record case numbers in Australia/New Zealand
• high transmissibility, but no evidence of increased severity
• influenza antivirals still effective

Brace for impact, e.g. get vaccinated: "In the UK...almost all recent cases (98%) have been #influenza A...among those around 84% are H3N2. Of these, around 87% are subclade K." #vaccines #PublicHealth #subcladeK

Great and timely piece! Since COVID, discussions on pandemics became emotionally charged. Instead of strengthening preparedness, we even cut funds for response readiness. Just follow #COP30 discussions— #deforestation and #biodiversity-loss aren’t exactly delaying the next pandemic. #PublicHealth

Very good! Wish it were required reading at #COP30. More facts, more data-driven decisions, less emotion & less symbolism in the climate change discussion please. Only hard work will get us out of this mess. It's not too late yet! @cop30brazil.bsky.social #climate @hannahritchie.bsky.social

Incidence rates are the holy grail of #epidemiology - elusive without systematic testing. New multilevel meta-analyses show 1 in 10 infants have #RSV episodes in primary care. NIVEL researchers went full Indiana Jones on this one—holy grail found #PublicHealth onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
