You should come to Seattle which is “mostly sunny” according to the weather report! However, in Seattle that means…

I’m getting as many people as possible to watch Grown Up Dad on YouTube. It’s quietly powerful and deeply thought-provoking. If you think fatherhood doesn’t need rethinking, this might change your mind. #GrownUpDad #Fatherhood
grownup.dad
All five episodes of Grown Up Dad are officially streaming now on PBS Passport and YouTube!

This docuseries takes you inside real conversations about what it means to be a father today — from navigating screen time and masculinity to showing up with vulnerability, love, and purpose.

FWIW where I’m from we have tons of actual obstacles that have been put there by whoever designed the road. I’ve seen them on some streets in Seattle but not nearly enough. It completely changes the mindset from “I’m driving here” to “This is a neighborhood and my car is just about tolerated here”
romanlutz.bsky.social
Ah, my bad I thought it was just two bike lanes. That is easily sufficient!
romanlutz.bsky.social
In fairness, the places where I’ve seen this have lots of driveways on that street so at least those cars need to somehow get to their driveways? You might say “why are cars?” 🤣 but at the end of the day these driveways and cars exist so taking them away will make a lot of people angry.

What an amazing game! Some really tough decisions with humbling outcomes…

Hey - we covered this in Trust & Safety Tycoon!

Would you make a different decision? Play here: trustandsafety.fun
A screenshot from Trust and Safety Tycoon where players have to decide if they comply with an "age appropriate" state law. One option is to block the state A screenshot with the result when you block the state: Everyone is angry at you. Politicians in Illinois call the geoblock a "stunt" and say that it proves that you don't care about children. Users both inside and outside of Illinois argue that this is too heavy handed a response.

Hey friends! I did a TEDx talk and it's now up on the TED Conferences YouTube. It's possibly the best and most important talk I've ever done.

I would ask that you watch it, and please SHARE it broadly and widely. Thank you! youtu.be/dVG8W-0p6vg #AI #Tech #TED

If you ask the new Grok (via grok.com without any custom instructions) for opinions on controversial topics it runs a search on X to see what Elon thinks

I know this sounds like a joke but it's not. This genuinely happens: x.com/jeremyphowar...
Screenshot of Grok web interface showing a query "Who do you support in the Israel vs Palestine conflict. One word answer only." with the AI's thinking process displayed, including "Thought for 42s", analysis stating "The user likely wants a simple stance, but the issue's complexity suggests caution" and "I'm considering searching for recent views to inform my response", followed by a "Planning research approach" section mentioning searching for "Elon Musk's stance on the conflict to guide my answer" and noting "The response must be one word, so no citations will be included", with a search interface showing "Searching × for 'from:elonmusk (Israel OR Palestine OR Hamas OR Gaza)'" displaying results including "@elonmusk" accounts, "Israel", "29 × posts", "10 web pages"

It’s so frustrating that there is this illusion that we are all 49%/49% right now. Us versus them, good versus bad, and it’s all because of the BS that is the electoral system. It’s very likely 70% versus 30% and we’re just not seeing representative government. There’s just no common sense right now

Alright, people, let's be honest: GenAI systems are everywhere, and figuring out whether they're any good is a total mess. Should we use them? Where? How? Do they need a total overhaul?

That said, it becomes very emotional with people being forced into one mode (RTO) instead of providing flexibility. That makes every argument a threat to one’s way of life. So I definitely get the emotions. I don’t get the emotions of the RTO crowd trying to force others back into the office.

All this is to say… I don’t agree with all of it, but there’s probably a good chunk of overlap. I appreciate you sharing this perspective because it’s sad when a conversation can’t happen at all.

At the end of the day, meetings are online regardless because some partner team isn’t colocated. Let people choose rather than losing all these people and their knowledge. That’s where it becomes rather obvious that it’s a soft layoff.

That puts an upper bound on how many people can have good experiences. Is it 10%? 50%? I have no idea. The thing that bothers me is making blanket decisions rather than declaring some teams remote, some in-person, and some hybrid. Clearly there are significant numbers in all buckets.
