This, I think, is at the root of our current masculine panic. Guys are realizing that the traditional offering for women -- be a productive member of the workplace but ALSO be a domestic servant for a man -- sucks. It's a shit deal. And if women have alternatives, they'll take them.

I mean, nothing would make me happier than his overreach causing his downfall in a manner to maximize his rage.

Wind and Truth by Sanderson. Battling impossible odds and characters' perseverance in the face of that and their own personal struggles...feels timely. Legitimately hopeful, without all the cynicism of a lot of modern fantasy/sci-fi.
