We have a sedevacantist presidency, we say. I agree. Trump occupies the office of the Presidency and exercises his powers without being the legitimate President. I agree! So what follows from that? Who then is the legitimate President?

Yes that's the point. That's why the post mentions a hypothetical "Amerimaidan." The next question is what next step is necessary to restore legitimacy to the government in the event Trump ends up like Yanukovych.

He has the military. Suppose he declares that certain "frauds" are to be forcibly prevented from entering the Capitol. And frankly he has enough collaborators in Congress and state governments to hold up or switch results.

Will the protesters accept Vance as the new President? Or will the demand also be for his resignation on those grounds and the elevation of Hakeem Jeffries to the Presidency? And if so, will Republican lawmakers and governors accept his legitimacy?

Here's the issue as I see it. Suppose Trump refuses to seat the newly minted Democratic-led Congress in 2027. This results in Amerimaidan, which the protesters win. Trump is forced to flee and either resigns or is deemed to have resigned. Vance stays behind.

Yep. Every single paper I've ever been proud of involved some amount of staring at a computer screen past midnight and typing like a madman, from my freshman year paper about Cicero's rhetoric to chapters of my MA thesis. Kids need to learn some fucking work ethic.

Yeah Carpenter's lighting and score are very much in line with, say, "Assault on Precinct 13." Something my friend pointed out, which I pointed out with Precinct, is that a lot of "Escape from NY" is also shot like a horror movie, with similar moodiness.

Yeah Snake felt a bit like an ur-80s hero in presentation. Not quite where we would get with, like, Commando or the latter Rambo films, but getting there. The seeds are there. He's a transitional figure.

Depends on money and the sales. I picked up a couple games at the Autumn sale but I don't really buy new stuff. If I had a better PC I would get the Oblivion Remaster and Tainted Grail, though.

People may not like Miller and Trump but unless presented with an alternative vision that can combat them, the average American will grow apathetic and withdraw from politics. Trump does not need to be popular if he is unopposed.

That's ridiculous. I can't speak to Dr. Thomas but you clearly didn't read the piece considering that it focuses almost entirely on what Pritzker and Newsom are doing well. And frankly I agree, Americans will resist authoritarianism if they see it can be resisted.

The psychic wage of hierarchy must be incredibly appealing. The right to be soo poor you can't buy video games or watch media, so long as you know there aren't brown people or queers or talkative women in them.
