Ik heb regelmatig "MM&I" ingevuld: "Me, myself and I."

Meeste mensen willen niet toegeven dat ze een kennelijk belangrijke entiteit niet kennen en knikken beleefd.

It's where I post. Happily so far.

Had some less-than-optimal experiences with Mastodon instance operators thinking they were God, which reminded me of FidoNet, which was a thing in the 1980s where the operators of nodes also felt they had to exert power over their users.

Being open about the intention to just might.

It could also cause America to rally around the flag and decide that they are united in their imperialism after all. Which would suck, but would at least be clear. Might convince some holdout dumbass Europeans that they're not our allies anymore.

Iran has an actual real-world need for citizen-built wireless networks a-la Freifunk in Germany. I'm sure there's lots of experienced rooftop-yagi-people willing to consult setting that up. (Especially if they don't have to physically go there until after the revolution.)

Yeah, I read that. The GitHub repository below describes the symptoms. Starlink should and probably will switch to their own positioning independent of GPS: they have the more jamming-resistant constellation.

Eh, duh, no routes, no traffic.

Does anyone know what the internet-situation within Iran looks like?

But for all we know they just allow TCP/179, right?

(I mean, we're clearly past the era where governments were outright stupid about this stuff, but one never knows.)

A gunshot this close to a microphone could cause various things in the audio path between that microphone and this clip to behave in a wide variety of manners.

This very much includes temporarily locking up the microphone's MEMS or membrane and codecs rejecting audio frames altogether.

The "authentic" radical left claim letter is interesting.
45k households without power in Berlin: high-voltage cables firebombed where they crossed a canal. Will take almost a week to repair.

The police quickly judged the radical-left claim letter to be "authentic"

No, on Mastodon, nodes get a preview. So it's not actual user interaction, it's message propagation to nodes where there's at least one follower. Or so I believe.

I bet real large-following accounts are crashing self-hosted pages when they post a link.

Second time in a short period that there's sabotage to the power network here. The previous time, in September, was also quite a lucky hit: many homes dark, long time to repair.

Oddly however, the text seems to be machine-translated to German and contains many passages that one simply would phrase differently if one were a German speaker.

And then there's the given names that are spelled in ways that make no sense. Unless you transliterate from Cyrillic.
Apropos Berlin:

Wer für Vance "Vans" schreibt, kennt den Namen (nur oder vorwiegend) aus der üblichen kyrillischen Schreibung. Ванс.

Und wer Giffey schreibt und gleich in der nächsten Zeile Giffay, kennt auch diesen Namen wohl nur aus der kyrillischen Umschrift. Гифай.

I wonder what's in today's Epstein files.

"For now."

It's rare to read two words that form a complete sentence and paragraph. They turn what was almost a near-defeatist piece completely on its head. Well done!
