People filming ICE-raids: you are all trying to get up-close, and it's necessary and heroic that some people do that. But often what's missing is the static overview shot, zoomed out to show the whole street, preferably from above. Just hold still and keep filming until it's really all over.

We can't fight for any ideal or against any aggressor if we are divided and openly for sale.

Either we fight Big Tech dependencies, social media power concentration and money in politics more generally, or we go down.

(My money is on going down, but maybe that's just the kind of day I'm having.)

It's becoming an increasingly lonely feeling to live in a liberal democracy with more or less intact institutions.

I close my eyes when I hear about the EU as a counterweight to Russia, China and the US. But then I open them again and I see a patchwork of democracies in varying states of decay.
